Technology in Drug Delivery
The innovative drug delivery system is error proof. In IV bags that are non-latex, DEHP-free, PVC-free, are exact amounts of the anti-biotics. Pre-measured, complete with bar codes on the bags to insure no mistakes, easily stored for long periods of time, the DUPLEX System is a better way to deliver anti-biotics. The ingredients are held in separate containers inside the bag, waiting for the health care professional to squeeze and mix them. It doesn't take long and the IV is ready for the patient. It is virtually mistake proof technology.
Health Care Innovations
Delivering the exact amount of medication to a patient is critical for saving the patient's life. Anti-biotics, especially, must be measured carefully because too little won't help and too much can do harm. Until this new technology, there was a possibility of dangerous mistakes. With the sealed bag, separate capsules, easy mixing and delivery system, and the ability to keep it safely stored for long periods of time, drug delivery is more efficient, safer and much more cost-effective.
Overview
Health care technology has come a long ways since the early days of reusable needles and jars of isopropyl alcohol lining the shelves in a doctor's office. The use of IVs was the big innovation of it's time. This new technological advance that makes the IV safer than it was before seems like a small thing, perhaps, but it will improve health care and make patient recovery even more likely by eliminating some of the risks that came with using the old mixing methods. The high cost of medical care is, at least in part, due to errors in patient care. Technological innovations like the DUPLEX system can reduce errors and bring the cost of health care down a little.
