Inside out

Inspiring Spring Poem

marc kirby
Peering out the window, the rain comes pouring down.
No fun and games, just flooding drains, no friends of mine around.
The reflection of myself I see is casting back a frown.
I dream of the parks and playgrounds that are all around the town.

Now momma says it won't last long, just you wait and see.
Just a few more hours and you'll be climbing trees.
A few more hours may be short for you but it's way too long for me.
There is too much to do for me and you with so many things to see.

Well momma was right and the sun came out bright and chased away the rain.
The clouds are gone and puddles dried leaving nothing but a stain.
The time for fun has just begun and to be outside again.

Let's grab the kites and ride our bikes and don't forget the ball and bat.
We'll take horse shoe stakes and roller skates but we won't stop at that.
So get the box of cars and trucks we'll use them where we're at.

Hurry now we don't have long, we only have all day.
Let's get to where we're going so we can start to play.
Now start the games and other things and don't stop until we are done.
We have so much to do this year now that spring has sprung.

Good job! I stopped to look because of your gorgeous picture, but I stayed to read your poem! Rhyming poetry can become redundant if not approached with caution, but yours did not. Good use of rhythm and rhyme.
