Inside Roseville Magazine

Don Lee
Awhile back I was waiting for I-80 to open up over Donner Summit and stopped at a restaurant in Auburn, Ca. with several other truckers. I went into the restaurant and sat down in a booth, discovering a magazine on the seat beside me. A few minutes later, as I was perusing the copy of "Inside Roseville Magazine", a lady stepped up to me and told me the magazine was hers and she had forgotten it. I gave it back to her, reluctantly.

Later that day, I was able to buy a copy of my own. I've just finished reading it from cover to cover. It's a great magazine! I was very surprised to find that one of the writers is Manda Spring (also an AC contributor.) Her articles were every bit as good as her books, blogs and AC stuff. She's one talented and busy lady!

I got a subscription to "Inside Roseville Magazine" and have talked to others who read it. I wasn't very familiar with the northern part of California, but it's sounding interesting. I didn't know that Auburn, Newcastle, Loomis and Rocklin are being called the Placer Valley these days. Apparently the have some great vineyards there and are producing world class wines. They're every bit as good as the vintners in the Napa Valley.

In Rocklin, there is the Rocklin Park Hotel. It rivals the finest places in L.A., San Francisco, Chicago and New York. The rooms have hot tubs, fireplaces, fine dining, room service, and full security. No wonder the celebrities who come to the Rocklin area choose Rocklin Park Hotel for their lodging! I'm thinking about taking the wife there for a little getaway.

I'm not thinking about moving to California. Nevada is my home and I'm quite happy with it. But after reading "Inside Roseville Magazine", I see California in general (and northern California in particular) a little differently. They have an Events Calendar as well as reviews of movies, concerts, dining and accommodations. The magazine comes out every other month and is well worth the price of $3.99 per issue. Whether you want to visit the wineries or have a terrific meal, or just a nice place to stay while passing through, you can find all the "skinny" in "Inside Roseville Magazine." And if you happen to be a Manda Spring fan, like I am, you can enjoy her articles. I heard a rumor that she's been promoted to editor, too. Like I said, she's one talented and busy lady!
