Game Background
Based on the Author Comments, which can be found on the game's Newgrounds site, Insidia is about a traveller who lands on an unknown and foreign planet on an emergency repair mission to fix his ship.
Game Controls
Use the arrow keys on your keyboard or the WASD keys to move around. Press W, X, the spacebar, or the Up arrow key on your keyboard to jump.
Gameplay
The main objective of Insidia is to find the ten repair kits that are spread out across the strange and unknown planet. There are also powerups and hidden areas. Finding all ten hidden areas will unlock an alternate ending.
Throughout the game, you will come across save points. The save points look like little portals and have a red light and a green light above them. The red light will be lit initially, but once you pass through the save point portal, the green light will light up instead, meaning you have successfully saved the game at that checkpoint. These checkpoints are important. When your virtual character is killed, you will be returned to the checkpoint that you last saved at.
There are a variety of enemies and obstacles that can cause your virtual avatar harm. Since your virtual character has no apparent life bar, any hit will be considered an instant death, and you will have to start back at where you last saved the game.
There are also information stands scattered throughout the game. Go up to these stands and stand beside them to read the message, which will be displayed on the screen for you to read.
While playing the game, you can toggle the sound by using the button at the top right hand corner of the screen, to the left of the main menu and pause button.
Game Review
Insidia is a fun little puzzle platformer that has an interesting darker twist to it than other platform games. The use of hidden areas and an alternate ending makes the game more interesting to play and keeps players playing until the end. The music is also a very fitting addition.
