Self-Worthlessness

A Powers
And to realize that, after all of this,

you are still just a flash in the pan,

a star that falls swiftly and swaths out,

a candle flame dwarfed by the whole

and not missed when extinguished.

After all the tears and toils and dreams,

you are still nothing and nobody.

Someday, when you are gone,

you will be a face that eludes the memory,

a name on the tip of a tongue,

and then nothing, forgotten.

This is your fate, no matter what you do.

And you'd do anything to forget it.
