Did you know that? The older you get, the more you'll suffer from insomnia (sleepiness). Some people need 9 hours of sleep while others do well with 5.
Children need ten or 14 hours of sleep everyday to promote physical growth and mental development. Although insomnia may frustrate you and deteriorate your health, self-treatment is often successful.
What are the symptoms of insomnia? They are,
1. Difficulty in get some sleep.
2. Waking earlier than the desired time.
3. Frequent awakening during the night.
4. Fatigue or drowsiness during the day.
5. Inability to concentrate.
6. Irritability.
What are the causes? The causes is psychological distress when you are angry or sad most of the time (depression), when your environment is too noisy during sleeping time, or when you worry about the next day (anxiety), you have high chances of suffering from insomnia. The above-mentioned causes are the most common. Caffeine, abundant in coffee and tea, and other stimulants are also the leading causes of insomnia. Even 1 cup of coffee during daytime can already disturb the sleep of susceptible people. Stimulants are drugs that excite the central nervous system. Although they are used by doctors to treat some disorders, many people tend to abuse them because they increase alertness, decrease fatigue and delay sleepiness. Caffeine, cocaine and amphetamines are usually present in diet pills because they increase energy and decrease the onset of hunger.
Diuretic medication drugs are meant to make a person urinate more often than usual as part of a treatment for certain diseases. And if these medications are taken at the latter part of the day, the person will have to wake up several times during the night in order to urinate. Alcoholic these drinks disrupt cycle and causes frequent awakenings.
Long period of alcoholism may also give you sleeping problems that last for years even if stop drinking. Sleeping pills is also a cause don't be surprised by this fact, for the first few days of using sleeping pills, you will experience your desired cycle of sleep. But after a few weeks of

Do not smoke, drink alcoholic beverages or eat too much 3 hours before sleeping. But a light snack may help you get some sleep if you eat it at bedtime.
Do some moderate exercises in the morning to get the right amount of fatigue at night.
As much as possible, set a definite time for waking and sleeping everyday. For example, the set time for sleeping is 9 in the evening and the time for waking is early 5 in the morning.
Do not go back to sleep no matter how sleepy you may still be, and avoid sleeping in the afternoon for too long.
Before sleeping, do not think about problems and other things that may cause you to worry. Set a regular time during the day to ponder in problems and their solution.
