How to Pay the Fine by Mail

Sincerity Anna
When you have a bad inspection sticker, one that has expired or does not match your vehicle, you will get a ticket, if inspections are required in your state. If you have received a ticket for your car or truck not being properly inspected and are willing to just simply admit it you can plead guilty. Talk to the officer that issues the ticket, and he or she will help you to understand the reasons why, and what to do. Failure to pay car tickets can result in more fines and more severe consequences. Take care of tickets as soon as you get them, and make sure to remedy the problem which got you the ticket. Keep receipts and proof of the actions you took.

Step 1

Read the entire ticket, both front and back, to understand the charge against you and the laws supporting it. Look at the bottom left side of the ticket to find the mail in option, and know that if there is a date and time listed there you cannot mail in the ticket but must appear in person, and will have to pay at court.

Step 2

Locate the 2 boxes on the right side of the ticket, one box for pleading not guilty, and one box for pleading guilty. Use a blue or black pen to make a large X through the box that allows you to plead not guilty. Do this because you do not dispute the ticket and are willing to just admit to it and pay the fine.

Step 3

Use the blue or black pen to fill in required information in the plea of guilty box. Complete all questions truthfully, and provide an accurate address as you will receive a letter from the court.

Step 4

Prepare a blank letter sized envelope by writing your address in the top left hand corner and then writing the court address listed on the ticket in the center of the envelopes front side. Place a stamp on the envelope and take it to your local post office to have it safely and securely mailed out to the court.

Step 5

Wait for a letter to arrive in the mail at the address you listed on the mail in ticket. Read the letter carefully when you get it from the court, the convictions will be listed, along with the fine amounts and court surcharge. Add the total amount of the fines to the court fee and make a check or money order out for the total amount. Send the check or money order along with your name, address, and fine information back to the court. Wait for a receipt to arrive in the mail.
