Inspiration

Inspiration. What is it. Inspiration has more than one meaning. There is divine inspiration. The apostles and the writers of the original text of the Christian Holy Scripture were divinely inspired. I believe God spoke directly to them.

There's also an inspiration God gives to all Christians when we get saved. God gives us His Holy Spirit (Holy Ghost) and leads us in our daily life. This is also divine inspiration. But He leads us when we pray, when we read our Bibles, and in situations of life and this divine inspiration will never contract scripture. It is rarely, if ever, an audible voice from God, but I can not rule out that possibility. Often this kind of inspiration works when you pray about something, then you study your scripture and God reveals to you personally through his Written Word what you should do about a situation.

There's a third kind of inspiration that is mainly human. I get inspired when I watch certain movies. Movies like Secretariat, Seabiscuit and Remember the Titans. These movies inspire me because they are often based on True Stories and people are either making fun of them or telling them that they can't do something. Sometimes people tell me I can't do something I've already done.

Remember Martin Luther or Martin Luther King? Regardless of what you think of the men themselves, these men stood up for what they believed was right, even literally risking their lives. That's inspiring to me.

It's encouraging to know that there are people who go against the grain, so to speak, to get things done. Many people who accomplish what we would call great things will debunk traditional wisdom and do what they think is right. Others have dreams, ideas and goals. Even if you don't accomplish your ideas and goals, it is always a good idea to work towards them as long as they are legal and sound.

Your ideas and goals do not have to make sense to other people. If you want to be the first truthful politician, that's a great goal. One thing that inspires me is the men and women of Hebrews chapter 11 in the Holy Christian Bible. Another thing I find both inspirational and encouraging is the mercy Jesus gives to sinners in the four accounts of the gospel. What inspires you?
