Inspiration Through the Bible

*Shell*
Throughout the years my life has had its own rocky terrains and smooth grassy hills. Through the good and the bad, I began to read the Bible once in a while reaching out for some comfort. At times it worked, at times it did not, but A few verses have always stuck with me.

John 15:13
Greater love has no one than this, that he lay down his life for his friends.

-When I was in high school a friend of everybody who attended our school, had passed away. He had died over seas serving our country.

Lacking Direction

Trust in the Lord with all your heart; do not depend on your own understanding. Seek his will in all you do, and he will show you which path to take.

Proverbs 3:5-6

- This verse from proverbs helped me in a desperate time of mine. My oldest sister past away, there was no cause of death and there for I had no closure and was very confused about why this had to happen to her. Realizing later, that god has a plan for everyone, and you just have to understand him and trust his reasons.

"Judge not, and ye shall not be judged: condemn not, and ye shall not be condemned, forgive, and ye shall be forgiven." - Luke 6:37

- When my parents were getting a divorce, I did not understand the reason behind their separation, was very confused and angry about the whole situation. I've realized that everyone makes mistakes, and decisions that you may not like, and in the end they may feel the same way about you. It is better to forgive them, for they will then forgive you for future mishaps.

"When times are good, be happy; but when times are bad, consider: God has made the one as well as the other..." - Ecclesiastes 7:14

-God has a plan and makes everything happen for a reason; the good comes with the bad. I experienced a very bad thing happen to me, and didn't understand what I did to deserve it, but later realized that what had happened, although was a horrific situation to be in, had made me stronger and made me a better person today.

Impatience

Wait for the LORD; be strong and take heart and wait for the LORD.

Psalm 27:14

- When I hit a really rough patch in life I asked god to give me a sign that everything would be okay. I had dream with my sister, (who passed away) in it reciting this verse. Good things come in time; you just have to wait your turn.

Anxiety

Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.

Philippians 4:6-7

-When I become very anxious, and nervous I think of this verse and it will calm me down some.

"Commit to the Lord whatever you do, and your plans will succeed." - Proverbs 16:3

- When I need some guidance and a push to complete something that I am doing I will recite this verse and get the motivation I need to continue my task.

John 15:13 reminds me of our heros and heroines, the fighting men and women of our military. And Proverbs 16:3 give me a lot of peace of mind about the future. Thanks, great job Shell. :-)

Agreed! What people don't relize is that you do not have to be a regular "church goer" to pick up the Bible. It can help you if you believe in it.

Thanks Shell. No other book has just the right antidote for our poison.
