Inspirational Bible Verses for Day to Day Living

Leigh S.
Keri Hilson says it wonderfully: "Sometimes love comes around and it knocks you down." Now replace love with work, school, family, friends, self esteem. There are many things that can knock us down. The important thing is where you turn to get back up. There are many Bible verses that are uplifting and encouraging that will help you get back on track. The following verses are some that have helped me get back up.

Deuteronomy 31:6
"Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the Lord your God goes with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you." Encouragement is one of the best things we can do for each other. A simple kind word can change someone's day. Remember when you are having a rough day, that God is speaking this encouragement to you. I often tell myself that God is whispering this in my ear when I'm having a hard day.

Did you ever have one of those days where nothing goes your way? Nothing seems to go as you plan? Well, you don't have to be in control. Philippians 3: 20-21 says: "But our citizenship is in heaven. And we eagerly await a Savior from there, the Lord Jesus Christ, who, by the power that enables him to bring everything under his control, will transform our lowly bodies so that they will be like his glorious body." We don't always have to be in control. Remember that Jesus is in control of your life now and He always will be. Trust that he has a plan and His plan might include your out of control day.

Exodus 8:18-19: "But when the magicians tried to produce gnats by their secret arts, they could not. Since the gnats were on people and animals everywhere, the magicians said to Pharaoh, 'This is the finger of God.' But Pharaoh's heart was hard and he would not listen, just as the Lord had said."

During the Plagues, Pharaoh's heart had become hard towards God. Is your heart hard towards someone? Towards yourself? Towards a work? Remember when things are plaguing you, don't become like Pharaoh. Realize that this is the "finger of God" at work. Don't become hard hearted; instead recognize his power, and his plan. He may be lovingly pointing his finger at you.

It's no joke that many of us are influenced by Media, money and the desire to keep up with the Jones'. The heart and mind are delicate and only take a little influence. When you feel that you don't have enough money or the latest fashion trends, turn to Romans 12:2: "Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind." Remember that it's not about what you have, or what the media tells you, but instead by how you feel, and what your motives are. When I sometimes see my friends taking an exotic vacation, or diving the newest cars, I remind myself that life is not about monetary things. There is more to this life than keeping up with the Jones'. As Hebrews 13:5 says, "Keep your lives free from the love of money and be content with what you have, because God has said, 'never will I leave you; never will I forsake you.'"

Remember that God delights. It might not make sense to us as humans, but 1 Samuel 2:1-2 is Hannah's prayer. Hannah trusted that God would give her the desires of her heart. Instead of being angry, she was patient and delighted in the marvelous ways of God. "My heart rejoices in the Lord; in the Lord my horn is lifted high. My mouth boasts over my enemies, for I delight in your deliverance. There is no one holy like the Lord; there is no one besides you; there is no Rock like our God." Hannah trusted in God's deliverance, and we should follow suit.

I hope that these verses encourage you the way they've helped me.
