Matthew 7:7-8
Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you:.
For every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened.
I ask God for help daily. It may be for healing or help with a problem I don't know how to solve. But I believe you have to actively search God out to ask Him. I believe you have to do your part and not sit back waiting for God to do everything for you. I lean on Him always and ask Him to lead and guide me according to His will and not my own.
Jeremiah 29:11
For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the Lord, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end.
There are many times that I ask myself why I'm here. What did God have planned for me? Am I doing what I'm supposed to be doing? This verse lets me know that God loves me, thinks of me and has a plan for me.
It's not necessary for me to know what that plan is. As long as I am still on earth, I know that I am playing out God's plan for me. It may be as simple as sharing the "word" with others. Or, it may be that someone's path and mine need to cross for something good to happen. Whatever God's plan is for me, I trust that God has my best interest at heart. I AM here for a reason.
Matthew 10:29
Are not two sparrows sold for a farthing? and one of them shall not fall on the ground without your Father.
But the very hairs of your head are all numbered.
Fear ye not therefore, ye are of more value than many sparrows.
God knows everything. He knew the hour of my death before I was born. He knows the very secrets of my heart and mind. His powers are beyond my comprehension. When I am worried, I remember these verses and they quiet my frantic thoughts. If God knows every sparrow, He surely knows me inside and out. I have no need to worry about what I cannot change and do not know. God will care for me even more than He cares for those sparrows.
Psalms 28: 6-7
Blessed be the Lord, because he hath heard the voice of my supplications.
The Lord is my strength and my shield; my heart trusted in him, and I am helped: therefore my heart greatly rejoiceth;and with my song will I praise him.
I pray and talk to the Lord many times a day. I know from answered prayers that He hears me and that He is listening when I go to Him. I have found strength in His word and I find I do use it as a shield against the problems and dangers of this world.
It's not enough to ask the Lord for things all the time. You have to thank the Lord for all His many blessings. Those you know about and those you are unaware of. Why would He keep answering prayers if He was never acknowledged or thanked? So I sing my praises to Him. My trust in the Lord grows stronger every day.
Romans 8: 28, 29, 31
And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.
For whom he did foreknow, he also did predestinate to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many bretheren.
What shall we then say to these things? If God be for us, who can be against us?
My dad died of cancer and it was the absolute worst day of my life. But looking back, we could see all sorts of blessings that came about during and after dad's illness and death. It stunned us how things all worked out.
I believe that we all knew God and He knew us before we ever came to earth. We are His children and God gave us Christ Jesus as a teacher, a model if you will. We belong to God. There is only one God. He is powerful, Holy and He chose to be our Father. Who can do more for us than God? Who can protect us more than God? Who wants any entity other than God to be in their corner?
My faith is simple and I read the Bible like a child. I believe the above verses and all that the Bible teaches me. I am but a sinner, but God chose to give me these verses to help me through a life that can sometimes be challenging, but can always be tolerated and enjoyed.

Beautiful selections Sherry :)
I agree with Sandra Essary's comment re the King James Version. While I use the NIV because it is used most times at church, small groups and bible study -- KJV is my favorite. It is from there I memorized so many verses during my childhood.
Some of my favorites and ones that I rely on daily.
Fantastic job! Some of my favorites.
Uplifting choices you picked, Sherry. Always nice to read something like this while I am pushing through my day here at work! Have a pleasant Memorial Day weekend! :)
Interesting that you use the King James version. Although I own & primarily use the NIV version, for some reason the King James version of my childhood has a different, special place in my heart.
Great verses - combined, they create a very positive read. It's true that people who have given their lives to God may not know when and where they are fulfilling God's plan for each of us. That's where faith comes in. Then once in awhile we do get validation that we are following the path we should. Those moments are priceless.
From childhood learning as recited each and every morning in the Boston Public Schools in the 1950's (right after the Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag), I recall often the 23rd Psalm which, to this very day, I find both soothing and reassuring.
