As a woman today, it's easy to feel like you are not good enough. It seems we are hit from every direction with messages that we don't measure up. It can be a hard life at times so it's important to look for those things that lift you up and bring you inspiration.
This is why I greatly appreciate the inspiration that can come from certain Bible verses. There are some that seem they are speaking specifically to women and it can bring a great deal of peace to your life.
Here are some inspiration Bible verses for women:
Proverbs 12:4
A wife of noble character is her husband's crown, but a disgraceful wife is like decay in his bones
As a wife myself, I find this verse inspiring in that it reminds me to be the best wife that I can be. I am not a servant to my husband but a partner. Just like any partnership, it takes two people to make it the best that it can be. This verse reminds me that if I am not my best as a wife, I will bring my husband down with me and in doing so, will hurt the relationship as well. I want to be my husband's "crown" in that I want him to be proud of me and I want to bring goodness to our relationship.
Proverbs 14:1
The wise woman builds her house, but with her own hands the foolish one tears hers down.
Here is one that also makes me think of my family. I think about my children and how important it is that I am there example and the constant in their life. My "house" is my family and they mean everything to me. While there are some days that I feel I just want to get away from it all, this verse reminds me of the importance of building my house and making it the type of place I want to be as well as where they want to be.
Genesis 2:18 (NLT)
Then the Lord God said, "It is not good for the man to be alone.
I will make a helper who is just right for him."
This one reminds me that God wants me to be happy with my partner and that we are meant for each other- made for each other. There is a peace and happiness that comes from this. Sometimes relationships are hard but I know it's worth it when I realize we are not meant to be alone and that together, we are stronger and happier.
Psalm 127:1 (KJV)
Lo, children are an heritage of the LORD: and the fruit of the womb is his reward.
I am forever blessed to have my children. Each one of them is extra special and while I know well the struggles some women have with child-bearing or even getting pregnant (and have experienced some of these struggles myself) I take peace in the knowledge that children are our gift and we are so very blessed to have them- whether we have one or six.
Romans 12:14 NIV
Bless those who persecute you: bless and do not curse.
This is a verse that inspires me when I feel I have been done wrong. It reminds me that it is my choice not to react to violence with violence or meanness with my own unkindness. If I bless my enemies, even when they do me wrong, I will also be blessed. I have seen this lived out in my life time and time again.
John 15:13-14 ESV
Greater love has no one than this, that someone lays down his life for his friends. You are my friends if you do what I command you.
We are created to love- to love our Creator and to love one another. This verse reminds me of the importance of friendships and also that my Creator is always my best friend and will be there for me even if it seems other fail me. It's also a reminder of how important it is to be a good friend to others.
As a mother and a wife, these verses have proven themselves inspirational to me many times. The Bible is large and complex and full of many pearls of wisdom, guidance for living life today as well as great stories of strong women and how they influenced the world in which they lived.
