Inspirational Quotes by Martin Luther King, Jr

"I have a dream" is perhaps the most inspirational quote by Martin Luther King, Jr. Well known for his oratory skills, some of his quotes are not just internationally acclaimed, but fine examples of how we should look at life, when it seems that all is lost. Commemorating his birthday on January 15, I compiled some of my favorite inspirational and motivational quotes by Martin Luther King Jr. that reflects his dynamic persona, his optimistic spirit and his conscientious mind.

Inspirational Quotes by Martin Luther King Jr.

"Only in the darkness can you see the stars."

"Those who are not looking for happiness are the most likely to find it, because those who are searching forget that the surest way to be happy is to seek happiness for others."

"If you can't fly then run, if you can't run then walk, if you can't walk then crawl, but whatever you do you have to keep moving forward."

"If a man is called to be a street sweeper, he should sweep streets even as a Michaelangelo painted, or Beethoven composed music or Shakespeare wrote poetry. He should sweep streets so well that all the hosts of heaven and earth will pause to say, 'Here lived a great street sweeper who did his job well."

"Forgiveness is not an occasional act, it is a constant attitude."

"If you lose hope, somehow you lose the vitality that keeps moving, you lose that courage to be, that quality that helps you go on in spite of it all. And so today I still have a dream."

"Never succumb to the temptation of bitterness."

"Courage is an inner resolution to go forward despite obstacles;
Cowardice is submissive surrender to circumstances.
Courage breeds creativity; Cowardice represses fear and is mastered by it.
Cowardice asks the question, is it safe?
Expediency ask the question, is it politic?
Vanity asks the question, is it popular?

But conscience ask the question, is it right? And there comes a time when we must take a position that is neither safe, nor politic, nor popular, but one must take it because it is right."

    "Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that"
    These are all such wonderful quotes from a very wise man who was taken well before his time. His words live on, especially when we all take them to heart and try to live the best life we can, with love and light to guide us.
