Where To Mount
First thing you need to do is to decide where you want to install a toilet paper holder. Yes, placement is critical because you want to be able to reach the toilet tissue when you need it. Because of the size of a standard toilet tissue holder, it is unlikely you will be installing it directly to studs behind the wall. This is why you need the toggle bolts. Toggle bolts have wings that insert behind the wall and spread out, securing objects to the wall. Although you do not apply pressure daily to the toilet paper holder, you do apply some when changing the rolls. Toggle bolts ensure that the toilet paper holder installation lasts for years to come.
Install Mounting Brackets
Place one mounting bracket on the wall. Mark the mounting holes from the bracket onto the wall with a pencil. Take the tape measure and measure for the second mounting bracket. Place marks for your second mounting bracket five inches away from the first. Place one end of your torpedo level over each top mark for each bracket. Adjust the second mark as necessary so the toilet paper holder mounts level. Place the mounting bracket over the mark, lining up the top mounting hole with the mark. Make the bottom mark for the mounting hole onto the wall.
Drill holes at your mounting mark with a drill bit the same size diameter as a folded toggle wing. Insert the toggle bolts through the front of the mounting bracket and thread the toggle wing onto the end of the bolt. Fold each wing with your fingers and insert them into the holes. Push the bolts through until the wings pop open inside the wall. Tighten each toggle bolt to secure the bracket to the wall. Repeat the process for the second mounting bracket.
Install The Toilet Paper Holder
Position each end of the toilet paper holder over the mounting bracket. The ends fit over the brackets with a set screw at the bottom. Once the ends are on the mounting brackets and flush against the wall, tighten the set screw at the bottom with an Allen wrench. Finish up your toilet paper holder installation by placing a roll of toilet tissue on the holder rod. Insert one end of the rod into the inside hole on one bracket. Press the other end of the rod toward the center and release it once you line it up to the inside hole of the second bracket.
