Start off by measuring the distance between the available HDMI ports of your television and the HDMI ports of your other HD devices. This may sound time consuming, however it is important because HDMI cables can quickly become expensive. The difference between a four foot and six foot high end HDMI cable can cost around twenty dollars. Because of this price, you will not want to purchase a cable that is too long. Of course you also won't want to buy a cable too short either, because that would defeat the purpose all together.
Most electronics stores (such as Best Buy or Radio Shack) will carry high-end HDMI cables. These cables will be much more expensive than the average cable, but the connectors will be gold plated (which is an outstanding electrical conductor) and the cables will be heavily protected with insulation. However, if you are looking for something without all the bells and whistles, but can still get the job done, head over to a Walmart or Target. These stores will have HDMI cables for a fraction of the price. They may not be gold plated, nor heavily insulated, but they are perfectly adequate for transporting the high definition data from one device to the other.
Remove the HDMI cable from the package (you may need a knife or pair of scissors for this). Insert one end of the HDMI cable into an avilable HDMI port on the television. It does not matter which end is used because both are the same. Insert the other end securely into the other HD device's HDMI port.
Power on both the HD television and the HD device. You television will most likely be set on the TV tuner. To connect to the device, press the "HDMI" button on the television's remote control. This will toggle through the available HDMI ports. Continue pressing the button until you reach the port which the device is connected to. Once this has been done you'll be able to watch whatever the content is on your HD device.
