1. Installing the iPod CD
Insert the CD that came with your iPod, wait a short while and the installer should launch on its own.
Choose your language and click "OK" in our case it will be English.
Wait a short moment ...
On the welcome window, click the Next button.
Then click "Yes" to the license agreement.
Then the setup program will ask you for the serial number of your iPod. The 11 digits at the back of your iPod (it's written in very small font). Enter the serial number and click "Next".
It then asks you to choose your country, select it and click "Next".
Enter the information that is requested, only the "First", "Name" and "Email" are required.
Click the Next button.
Leave the default directory "C: \ Program Files \ iPod" if you are unsure about what to do, or change it if you have a particular need in relation to the installation directory of the iPod software. Then click the Next button.
Wait for the installation, which may take several minutes.
You will now install iTunes and QuickTime, which are very useful with your iPod (library, video / audio etc).
Click "Next" to start the installation:
Choose whether you want shortcuts to iTunes and QuickTime Player on your desktop or not, if you want iTunes to be your music player by default (if not, your audio player will continue to run when you click on an mp3 audio file etc. .). Similarly for QuickTime and multimedia files.
Leave the default directory "C: \ Program Files \ iTunes" if you are unsure about what you do, or change it if you have a particular need in relation to the installation directory of the iTunes software. Then click the Next button.
One more click on "Next"
QuickTime will take several minutes to install.
And now, you will finally be asked to restart your computer to complete the installation.
2. Connecting the iPod and launching iTunes
When your computer is rebooted, you can connect your iPod. After a while it should light up, it will be detected and the installation process should take place automatically. The iTunes software will also launch on its own whenever your iPod is connected.
For the first launch, you'll have to accept the license agreement.
Then you will be asked for some configuration options. Continue clicking "Next". At the end of this, iTunes will launch.
