Installing Outdoor Speakers

Outdoor speakers can make a nice addition to any outdoor space, but installing them can be a little bit of a pain if you don't know what you're doing. This guide will help you know everything you need to before installing your outdoor speakers. If you can figure out how to use an IPOD or hook up a computer then you can install outdoor speakers. So lets get started.

First of all you need to decide what kind of speakers you want to use. Here are a couple web sites that can give you an idea of what kind of speakers you might want and then you can buy straight from them. The first website I have is Outdoor Speaker Depot this site has everything you need for outdoor audio including speaker wire. The next website is the Outdoor Speaker Store this store also has everything you need for outdoor speakers and even marine speakers and audio systems.

After you have figured out what kind of speakers you want and where you are going to put them you need to also figure out how much wire you will need and get that too. Now you should be ready to get started. Now that you know where your outdoor speakers are going to go you will need to find the best route to run the wire so it is not seen or easily accessible to animals or lawn mowers. The best solution for this is to bury it in conduit, you will only have to bury it about 6-12 inches nothing to involved.

Once you have have all you wire ran and conduit in if you went with that, you will need to get it to your home audio system. it is best to drill a small hole and go through a wall rather then through a window or door. If you go through a window or door you have the chance of crimping the wire and breaking the connection and loosing your sound. So I recommend just drilling a small hole just big enough to get the wire in.

Now you need to hook up the speakers and receiver, you may need to refer to your owners manual for hooking up your receiver. Make sure you have your speakers and Receiver polarized right. Positive to positive and negative to negative.

Now you should be able to crank up your outdoor space and possibly make your neighbors crazy. I hope this was helpful enough to get you started and if you need to know anything thing else please feel free to leave a question in the comments section and I will try and help you with anything else you would like to know.
