Vessel sinks can really make a statement in your bathroom. They come in so many varieties. You can choose the size, shape, color and material. You can get ones that are made from one material or a mixture. Glass and stone varieties really give you a chance to show off your taste.

However, once you have picked out that perfect sink, how are you going to put it in? This guide will give you the general idea as well as point you in the right direction for more in depth instructions.

Installing the Vessel Sink Cabinet

If you get a new cabinet for your vessel sink, make sure to follow the instructions that come with the cabinet and get it attached before starting.

We are going to work with the above the counter sink, as this is going to be the mounting method used for most vessel sinks. In fact only very smooth, round non-glass sinks can be mounted recessed. However, if you really need instructions for mounting a recessed vessel sink, see the article list under sources.

Mounting the Counter

So now you need to attach your counter to your cabinet.

-Run the tube of silicone or caulking gun of silicone adhesive around the outside edges of the cabinet.

-Lower counter onto cabinet making sure it is in the proper position.

-Wipe off any excess from underneath the cabinet.

-Leave it alone for 15 minutes to let it set up.

Hook the Faucet Up to the Water

-Attach the water pipes to the facet.

-Make sure to screw them in tight and not to cross thread them.

-Some faucets may require that you take them apart to do this.

-Attach the mounting bracket assembly.

Install the Vessel

-Cover the part of the sink that will come into contact with the counter with a thick layer of silicone.

-Line up the drain hole with the pre-cut drain hole in the counter top.

-Lower the vessel.

-Make any adjustments and check your alignment by setting the drain into the drain hole.

-Adjust further as necessary.

-Wipe off any excess silicone gel.

Attach Drain Assembly

-Place the drain into the sink if you have not left it there from the last step.

-Reach underneath the cabinet and screw on first the rubber seal and then the locknut.

-Tighten the plastic locknut over the metal one you just installed.

-Test everything by running the water.
