Instantly Stop Stress Through Meditation

Daniel Liu
Religious, focus for sports, personal relaxation or better relationships... whatever be the reason for you to meditate, here are ways to tell you how to meditate.

New Age therapies like past-life regression, clinical hypnosis and subliminal messages are all aimed at tapping the power of the inner recesses of your mind for a better life. All these techniques are based on the mind's ability to focus and the body to relax for an optimum functioning. Therefore, for starters, you must learn to relax. Set a place in your house where you will not be disturbed while meditating. Ensure that the noise level is low and it will not perturb you. You must use the same place to meditate every day. Meditating on your bed doesn't serve the purpose because you tend to fall asleep during the relaxation process.

Next, be seated comfortably or lie down with ease. Try and send a mental command to each part of your body, step by step, to relax. Let stress seep out slowly. Before lying down or sitting down for meditation, you can do some very light stretching exercise to help your body loosen up. Once the day's tension or, physical stress drains out, you will be in a better position to meditate.

Use meditation music or any other slow music to help you get into the mood for meditation. There is a range of meditation music available online. There is music to help you relax and meditate during specific times of the day. Choose a renowned piece of music.

Once you are comfortable and feel completely relaxed, you need to focus. For religious meditation, you may have been initiated by a master who would have given you a mantra or asked you to focus on a certain symbol. Religious meditation techniques are usually taught so, once your body is relaxed, you can follow up with the specific instructions that have been given to you. In other cases, the music that you are using, recorded by an expert, will include subliminal or clear commands for you to follow with your mind. In case of subliminal commands you don't have to do much except focus on the musical flow. In cases of clear commands, let your attention follow as directed.

In situations where you are neither using a religious or mystical symbol and nor do you have any meditation music available, it is a good idea to focus on your inner being. Try and feel your astral body as you would feel your physical body. This will often put you in a light trance that will allow your body's natural processes and your atman to take over. Though, none of these techniques are complete ways for expert meditation but you can use them for a light, peaceful method for inner peace.

After a 15-20 minute session you will feel a wave of quietness over you. You may get up then and get on with your day or try and sleep. You are unlikely to get into a hectic conversation after a meditation session so it's better to enjoy the feeling in silence for a while.
