Insurance Companies-The Con is On!!

....
Insurance companies make billions and billions of dollars/pounds each year from praying on our fears of falling victim to unforeseen circumstance and being at a loss because of this. The insurers are supposed to be our safety net in the event of a loss, helping us back to our feet, or, putting us back to where we were before an accident. And for this they demand a premium, which is only fair, they provide a service and we, the consumer pay for it.

What is not fair is the fact that they will take our money, handed over in good faith, and try and find as many ways as they can to worm their way out of providing the service for which we have paid. Each year we get a no claims bonus which rewards us for not claiming, for being careful and being willing to soak up the cost of replacing the television which the kids through water down the back of, or, just making do with the hole in the carpet that the iron you just knocked over has made. Enticing us with the fact we may save a couple of quid in the future. They encourage us to not make a claim so they, the insurer, can become wealthier.

They will phone us, uninvited, lying through their teeth trying to sell us policies which we don't want. Asking people to give them their credit / debit card details in order for a quotation to be sent out, or as an identity verification and then setting up a policy without the victim knowing. And, although there are governing bodies like the FSA in the UK who will heavily fine companies for suchSlamming or Mis-selling, it still happens to this day and with un-nerving regularity. And we, the consumer, are supposed to trust these charlatans, these shisters, these modern day highwaymen??

And Yes, they provide us with the peace of mind that in the event of the unthinkable occurring, they will endeavour to do everything that they can to make sure that we get bugger all; except extremely pissed off. We are left feeling as if, somehow, we are in the wrong and that we should be grateful that for the times when we have not needed to claim for anything, because now we know the insurers are insuring us against one thing and one thing only - Spending our money on some thing else more worthwhile.

I tell you this - Even Dick Turpin wore a mask!!
