Integrity Reading of a Good Small Business

Nina Rotz
A good business separates itself from the rest of the competition with integrity, accountability and honesty. Good reputation is built with hundreds of satisfied customers, but it takes one unhappy customers to destroy it. One way companies market their great reputation and gain strong position is through their IR or Integrity Reading. The IR refers to the integrity of the business, and the company integrity level.

Integrity can refer to individuals, such as those who knowingly borrow money without intention of paying it back. Ignoring personal debt is no way of having responsibility or accountability in one's life. Following through an agreement, even that of borrowing money and promising to pay it back, should not be a foreign concept but a personal responsibility a person takes pride in achieving.

Of course, Integrity Reading of a business is important as well. A business using services of vendors takes on the responsibility of financially compensating the vendor for the services provided. Believe it or not, there are some companies who choose to use vendor services without the intention of paying for it. Simply chalking it off as bad debt is not acceptable.

Bad planning is another trait of bad business. Overextending financial and employee resources can damage a company reputation. Even employee that agree to meeting at a certain time but show up late can be seen as bad planning, costing the company sometimes thousands as a result of irresponsibility. Several late employees can cost the company loss of productivity, and reduce business profits.

Or how about people who are out for freebies? There is no personal accountability when wanting to live life by getting something for nothing. Everyone wants to be compensated for their services. Asking someone to pay you for services does not give you the right to ask for free services from someone else.

Fortunately, there are those who live their lives with utmost integrity and honesty. There is a lot of pride in living a responsible life, with independence and accountability for your actions. An honest person can always look at themselves with pride, knowing they have gotten to this point with right decisions.

Have you ever wondered what your Integrity Reading is? Evaluate yourself by asking if you follow through agreements or are able to do the right thing in a certain situation. We all know that things happen, but do you take accountability for your actions that may have caused it? Are you responsible enough to deliver your half of the transaction? Are you responsible enough to pay your creditors as agreed and the amount agreed? Does your reputation help or hurt you in the market?

The decision and actions you take in business can bring your integrity level up. Honest business practice is valued for its fairness to the business and to the customer. Even when a bad situation occurs, the best policy is honesty to the customer and a promise to resolve the matter efficiently and in a timely manner.

Integrity Reading can be a powerful marketing tool. As big business knows, there is no better marketing than the word of mouth. A happy customer will spread the word, while an unhappy customer will spread bad word like wildfire. What are your customers saying about you?
