Intel Core2Duo E4300 Desktop Processor: A Worldwide Best

Robert Walden
Introduction: At the end of 2006, Intel launched its new range of processors, Intel Core2Duo. First one to produce any dual core processor in the market was AMD, but their Dual Core product range was way too expensive for an average user to buy. Back in the start of the 2006, Intel launched their first Dual Core processor, the Intel Pentium D. Although it was a lot cheaper than AMD but it delivered very high performance as compared to AMD's Dual Core. But it also had some issues like overheating which were covered in later versions of Pentium D. In the second half of 2006, Intel launched its revolutionary Core2Duo Processor E4300 which started a whole new era in the personal computing.

Specifications:

Clock Rate: 1.8 GHz

Number of Cores: 2

Bus Frequency: 800 MHz

Multiplier: 9x

Cache Size: 2MB

Packaging: LGA 775

Power Requirement Range: 22-65W

Features: Enhanced Speed Step, Execute Disable Bit, Intel EM 64T, Intel Thermal Monitor.

Cutbacks: The Intel Core2Duo E4300 sits at a comfortable Front-Side bus (FSB) of 800 Megahertz. Both the cores in the Core2Duo processors are HT (Hyper-Threading) enabled, which makes four logical processors on board. Each Core of the Core2Duo E4300 has a level two cache of 2MB which makes the total of 4MB.

Benefits: TheCore2Duo with its cutting edge technology allows the users to run the multiple OS simultaneously. It also is ideal for video rendering and gaming, though additional graphic cards are to be used for this purpose. The Core2Duo E4300 is also ideal for the server systems; they give great performance when used with extra peripherals for servers.

The Core2Duo E4300 is also Vista ready i.e. they support Microsoft's latest windows Vista with its Aero visual affects.

The Intel E4300 is also enabled for 64-bit processing which means higher data rate can be sent and received in the system peripherals which ultimately results in delivering more performance.

The E4300 is a notoriously sound over clocker, which is great news for tweaker's everywhere. It can be over clocked easily over 900 megahertz from the default 800.

Limitations: There are a couple of setbacks with the high performance of the Core2Duo processor. The first one is the overheating; the Core2Duo processor needs a special thermally efficient casing, in which there is proper airflow, so that processor can keep cool. Also the fan of the Core2Duo processor is a little bigger than that of the Pentium 4. The other thing about the Core2Duo E4300 processor is that it consumes more energy than any of its predecessors.

Conclusion: At the end of the day the Core2Duo E4300 is the best desktop processor yet by any vendor worldwide, its dual core architecture and extended L2 cache provides the cutting edge technology to the user. It is also ideal processor for the gamers and over clocker's which make this processor even more noticeable in the market. It may have some cons like over heating and not being the electrically efficient processor but it still stays the best. In short Intel has regained their market which was threatened by AMD before the release of Core2Duo processor.
