Both Inter and Bayern Munich, come into their Champions League final showdown in extremely good form. The two teams were able to win their domestic leagues in relative ease, capped with dominant victories on the final day of the regular season. Furthermore, they have each added another national cup to their long list of accomplishments. Winning the Champions League will complete a hat trick of club honors for either team.
There is no need for extra motivation as each finalist hopes to affirm their soccer pedigree with a strong Champions League victory. Despite their brilliant records in the Champions League, Bayern Munich and Inter Milan have not had much success in recent international play. Each team hopes that a victory at Santiago Bernabéu Stadium will catapult it back to elite status. For Inter's coach Jose Mourinho, a Champions League title will validate him as one of the great football minds in history. A lot are at stake for both teams.

In term of head-to-head match up, Bayern Munich has always played well against Inter. In their last meaningful contest, Munich defeated Milan comfortably with a score of 2-0. But the two teams have not met since miracle coach Jose Mourinho became Inter Milan's coach. Under Mourinho's reign, Inter Milan has become more defensive relying mostly on tactical counterattacks to score goals. Conversely, Bayern Munich (under Dutch coach Louis van Gaal) has transformed into a high-octane offense that is capable of putting big numbers on the board. The championship game will be a contest between a strong defensive team and a robust offensive team. The winner of the 2010 Champions League final is likely the one who can execute the game plan better.
The key to Inter Milan winning the Champions League will ultimately come down to whether the team can seize the lead early. Mourinho's crew has repeatedly demonstrated that they are more than capable of protecting a lead when is given one. This was true in their wins against Barcelona and Chelsea. The key to a Bayern Munich's victory will depend on an in-form Arjen Robben. The Dutch winger has played some of his best football lately. Another strong game from Robben is likely to lead Munich to victory.
My predictions for Inter Milan vs. Bayern Munich (2010 Champions League final): Inter defeats Bayern in extra time to earn the title.
