Interactive Scrapbook Elements

Scrapbook albums are intended to have an audience. This means that each page that you create needs to be eye catching and interesting. One way to achieve this is to create interactive elements on your scrapbook page. Interactive elements force the audience give the audience something to do while looking through your album. They also give you the opportunity to add more to your scrapbook page while saving space. Some examples of interactive elements are pop up pictures, pull out journaling, adding sound, and creating envelopes and pockets.

There are many templates that you can find online that will allow you to make envelopes and pockets. Once you adhere these to your pages, you can then stuff journaling, momentos and memorabilia into them.

Pop up pictures are a fun way to get your audience involved. Hide a photo underneath a photo mat. This not only gives your audience something to do but will save space on your page.

Pull out journaling will also give your audience a way to get involved. You can hide your journaling underneath the photo to save space. Make sure to embellish your page in such a way that the audience knows there is something to pull out. This can be accomplished by using arrows and pull tabs.

Both pop up pictures and pull out journaling will require some pre planning on your part. Not executing this correctly can be frustrating and waste your supplies.

There is also a newer interactive element that you can purchase to add to your scrapbook. This is the ability to add sound to your scrapbook pages. You can now buy mini voice recorders that you can adhere to your layout. This is especially useful in situations where you are scrapbooking about children. It can be a good way to record a sonogram heartbeat. You can record a special message for a gift scrapbook album.

Interactive scrapbook elements are best used on miniature albums. This is because miniature albums do not generally utilize page protectors. If you want to add interactive elements to your traditional scrapbook album, you will need to find a way to cut the plastic page protector around your element so your audience can engage it.

Interactive elements do require some pre planning but they also give your scrapbook page that extra oomph that you've been looking for. Experiment with developing your own interactive elements to give each scrapbook page its own uniqueness and personality.
