Bear Grylls was born with the name Edward Michael Bear Grylls on June 7, 1974 in the Isle of WIght, England UK. Bear married his current wife Shara in 2000 and they have three sons, Jesse, Maramduke & Huckleberry Edward Jocelyne Grylls, who was born January 15, 2009. The happy family lives on a converted barge on the River Thames.
Bear Grylls is the host and star of Discovery Channels Man vs Wild. Each week, Bear takes a bite out of nature and dines on everything from spiders & scorpions from the Nevada Desert to camel testicles in the Sahara Desert. Bear Grylls was in the military and has been on several expeditions by land, sea and air.
The second series premiere of Man vs Wild in the US was on June 15, 2007 and is broadcast on the Discovery Channel. Bear Grylls also hosts a series titled Born Survivor: Bear Grylls on Channel 4 for the British which is broadcast in the USA on Discovery Channel and is known as Man vs Wild. The name of this same type of series programming which is broadcast on the Discovery Channel in Europe, Africa & Asia is titled Ultimate Survival.
Man vs Wild features Grylls being dropped into some of the most inhospitable places on earth, and demonstrates many ways for the viewers on how to survive. He sometimes jumps down off of the helicopter, skydives to his destination and lands in mosquito infested swamps, rivers full of jagged rocks, oceans full of sharks or swims through icy cold waters to show viewers how to prevent frostbite from setting in. It is all in a day's work for Bear.
Man vs Wild features wild stunts that include Bear Grylls climbing tall cliffs, jumping off cliffs and diving down in to the cold icy waters below, wading through wild rapids, eating unusual animals and even wrapping his urine-soaked t-shirt around his head to help ward off the desert heat. Grylls also at times during some shows tells his viewers all of the stories of other adventurers who have been stranded or killed while out in the wilderness.
The next time anyone wants something interesting and exciting to watch on television, hop on over to the Discovery Channel & check out Bear Grylls for yourself. You won't be sorry. Man vs Wild is not for the weak stomachs to watch. There are some very graphic scenes at times so keep that in mind. All in all I love Man vs Wild. This show gives me the chance to get away from everything once a week just for a little while and I go on all the great adventures with Bear. Bear is a cutie!
