The word Bible literally means "books", from the Greek word 'Biblia'. The Bible is the biggest selling book of all time. The Bible is approximately 773, 692 words in length. The Bible contains 66 books in total. It would take the average person 70 hours to read the entire Bible out loud.

The Psalms is the longest book in the Bible. The Old Testament was originally written in Hebrew.

The New Testament was originally written in Greek. The bible has been translated into more than 2,000 languages and dialects. In 1454, the Bible became the first book ever to be printed.

The star of Bethlehem which was recorded by Matthew in the Bible, was also recorded by Chinese astronomers, who called it a bright and unknown star. In a cave by the Dead Sea, a young shepherd discovered an old clay jar which had within it dusty scrolls, which ended up being ancient copies of the Old Testament.

The Old Testament makes reference to Jesus more than 60 times. The New Testament has more than 260 quotations from the Old Testament. Obadiah is the shortest book in the Old Testament with only 1 chapter of 21 verses. Judges 9:8-15 contains the oldest parable in The Bible.

The New Testament contains 7, 959 verses. The New Testament has 27 books. The longest book in the New Testament is Acts with 28 chapters. The Ephesians 3:1, Philippians 1:7, Colossians 4:3 and Philemon, were written by Paul while he was in prison.

The number 7 appears often in The Bible and is considered to represent completion, perfection or wholeness. The number 40 also carries meaning in the Bible and represents change, or the ushering in of a new era or period.

The first person to be named a Hebrew in the Old Testament is Abraham.

Acts 11:26 in the New Testament is first place in The Bible in which the word Christian is mentioned.

In the Bible, Samson is the strongest man. In The Bible, Solomon is the wisest man. The phrase "Do not be afraid" appears in The Bible 365 days, which is parallel to the amount of days in a year. The first animal out of Noah's Ark was a raven.

The translation of The Bible into English was started by John Wycliffe and finished by John Purvey in 1388. In 1535 the first English language Bible was published.
