The brain is a mysterious organ that has many functions still unknown to man. While many know the brain is the "computer" to the body there are many functions people are unaware of. For instance, did you know the brain contains more than 100 billion neurons, that is more than 166 times the number of people that inhabit the earth.
• You use 100% of your brain, the 10% is a myth. Every part of your brain has an function. during a Functional magnetic resonance imaging doctors can see which parts of your brain by the flow of blood to the area.

• The brain is made up of over 75% of water. This is why when one is dehydrated the brain cannot function properly.

• The brain makes up about 2% of body weight in the average 150lb person. This comes out to the brain weighting roughly 3lbs.

• The blood that is pumped out of the heart is directed to various parts of the body, 15-20% of this blood is pumped straight to the brain.

• The brain is more active at night when you're resting.

• The brain knows how to tell different types of sensation. This is why we are unable to tickle ourselves. Because our brain knows what we are going to do before we carry out the action the cerebellum sends a signal altering the rest of the brain so the sensation of a tickle is then ignored.

• There are over 100,000 miles of blood vessels running through the brain.

• The capacity to feel emotions is developed at birth. The emotions are then developed by the way an infant is nurtured.

• Your brains activity during the waking hours is enough to light a light bulb. The brain produces up to 23 watts of power.

• While sleeping your brain releases a hormone that prevents you from acting out your dreams in your sleep.

The brain has many incredible functions with numerous jobs. There are many little known facts of what the brain's functions actually do. Not only is the brain responsible for thinking, and processing information and actions such as our senses the brain is also responsible for all of our physical motions, temperature control, breathing, blood pressure, heart rate and any other tasks that are uncontrolled or controlled.
