- In Texas it is against the law for any person to have a pair of pliers in his or her possession.
This law makes it a little difficult to do some of those little household repairs to get done. Was this law made so that men can have an excuse not to do some chores? Next it will be the hammer.
- In Philadelphia it is illegal to put pretzels into a bag.
This law is based on an act from 1760. Good thing for the airlines that they bag their pretzels somewhere else or it would be tough to fly in and out of Philadelphia.
- Alaskan law makes it illegal to look at a moose from an airplane.
Just make sure when that moose that is flying at 30,000 feet goes by the window that you don't look, seems simple doesn't it?
- In Corpus Christi, Texas it is illegal to raise alligators in your home.
Alright this one isn't strange at all. What makes it strange is that they need to have a law like this on the books. I just make sure to buy my alligators full grown, less work that way.
- In Miami it is against the law to imitate an animal.
Hopefully they don't qualify humans as animals or we are all in trouble when we go to Miami. Spring Break would be a tough time of year to try to enforce this rule.
- It is against the law to mispronounce the name of the State of Arkansas in that state
Hopefully they take into account that not everyone has the thick southern accent or a lot of non-southerners could be in big trouble.
- In Illinois there is a law that a car must be driven with a steering wheel.
When they make that car that can be steered with your mind they are in for some serious legislation in Illinois.
- California law makes it against the law for a woman to drive a car while wearing a housecoat.
Well I guess no grandmothers are allowed to drive in California.
- In Memphis, Tennessee it is illegal for a woman to drive a car unless a man warns motorists by walking in front of the car.
If this were the followed law anywhere there would be a huge lack of men. It would probably be too tempting to hit your husband after an argument to pass it up.

I live in Texas, and never heard about the pliers law. It isn't enforced. I guess the laws are old? Anyway, nice article.

I love reading funny outdated laws like these. Thanks for the article!
I loved this article. I especially liked the one about it being illegal for woman to drive a car unless a man warns motorists... I minored in Women Studies and this is too funny.
