International Aid Launches Haiti Earthquake Relief

West Michigan Spearheading Efforts to Help 2010 Haitian Earthquake Victims

International Aid spearheading efforts to send money and medical supplies to Haiti Earthquake victims. International Aid of Spring Lake, Michigan is launching a major effort through donations to get money to buy medicines, clinics and lab-in-suitcases to the earthquake devastated Haiti this January 2010 and its people.

International Aid has a strong West Michigan history of helping worldwide countries that have been devastated through some sort of disaster. IA goes into devastated areas as first responders to get immediate attention to those that need it most. Then IA provides assistance to the communities to improve the needs of the health services in the immediate future and will set up portable labs to determine the diseases that are present and the course of action to prevent further spread of diseases.

With 2010 Haitian earthquake expecting to have over 3 million people affected by the current earthquake, International Aid expects that a long term health care solution will be needed for quite some time. West Michigan has always been able to reach deep in their pockets to provide support to International Aid when the call has been put out. While foundations and churches are great supporters of IA, its main income comes from individuals who care enough about the needs of the suffering.

The 2010 Haitian earthquake has touched the hearts of millions and West Michigan will respond to the help needed through the Christian foundation that International Aid provides. Getting medical supplies to Haiti is International Aid's first priority. IA is hoping to get its first shipment out to Haiti as early as the week of January 17th. Getting aid into the country is the main problem right now. With most of Haiti's infrastructure totally decimated, only so much aid is getting in. Until a better solution is found the process of helping the people of Haiti is going to be much slower than relief foundations have hoped for.

If you happen to be traveling north or south on US31 in Spring Lake you will notice the flashing billboard at International Aid Headquarters asking for monetary donations. All donations are welcomed and can be found at the International Aid website. International Aid is currently seeking donations specifically for 2010 Haitian earthquake relief. International Aid also has a 1-800 phone number to call if you would like to find out other ways you can help with the Haiti Relief.

We have several friends on the ground, nurses and doctors, as I write. I enjoy the West Michigan spin to the news.

It is so interesting reading about these different efforts from around the country. Heartwarming, too. I hope some of our international writers also take up this challenge.
