International Goof-Off Day!

Today is International Goof-Off Day! Sounds pretty good to me! What are some ways you like to goof off?

Okay, I know reading articles on Associated Content really isn't goofing off but it is about my favorite thing to do. Reading and writing on Associated Content replaced Yahoo! 360 and Multiply for me. I try to go there once in awhile to see how my friends are doing and what they are up to. Now I've made new friends here and I really enjoy learning all of the things they write about! Plus, the poetry is lovely.

Another way I like to goof off is to go sledding with my boys. I take a lot of neat action photographs of them. Then we come inside for some warm hot chocolate with marshmallows for a toasty treat and try to get rid of our red cheeks.

Another wintertime goof off day that is fun is to make a snowman family and find things around the house to make them fashionable! We make a few snow angels to surround the snowman, snowmom, and snowkids.

In the summertime, our favorite thing to do is to hang-out at the lake. We have a picnic with my grandparents, parents, and anyone else who has the day off. Long leisure days soaking up the rays. There is nothing better than kicking back on a raft and watching the kids play. I just have to be careful not to doze off and end up on another part of the lake! Thankfully, that hasn't happened since the boys were born.

It makes me happy my kids are getting to know their great grandparents and grandparents very well. Now they are to the point that they will recall the memories. If they do not, I have thousands of pictures and videos to refresh their minds!

We also frequent a public beach when we feel like making sand castles in addition to swimming. Plus, it is fun for the kids to play with other children.

Going for a long nature hike and discovering new flowers and animals. A time for more nature shots!

Fishing on a sunny day is a great way to goof off and relax. There is nothing better than your husband cleaning the fish and cooking them out on the grill. It is fun for the boys to see they caught their own dinner.

Resting on the couch for the day in your pajamas and slippers with your dog and cat is one of my favorite things to do for goof off day. My boys play the Wii. We play board games and/or cards. I indulge in a cup of carmel tea. It is also good for the mind and soul to unwind and forget about your cares!

A day at the spa with my best girlfriends is so much fun. Twice a year we go to a spa. We get whatever treatment done such as a massage, pedicure, manicure, etc., then we all meet at the large swimming pool. We order lunch by the pool. Have a few drinks from the pool bar and a lot of laughter! It is always great catching up with each other's lives. The older we get the more blessed we feel that we are all still friends and get together every six to eight weeks.

Relaxing on the deck watching the small airplanes fly by and land while our children run through the sprinkler or play on the wooden swingset.

Taking a bike ride alone with my camera. There are so many photos each time that are unforgettable. Try it. You will be happy with your results. It is very calming to just observe your surroundings in the fresh air. Who knows, you may come up with a frameable photograph for your home or a gift!

Camping, to me, is the ultimate goof off time. No phones, no computer, and no television. Only nature. Outdoor cooking with meals by the fire, swimming all day long, boating, and fishing. We have a neat popcorn cooker for over the campfire. S'mores. Cozy sleeping bags under the stars and trees.

Take time to ponder some of your favorite goof off times. I hope you had a chance to goof off today! After all, you deserve it.
