Poor State of Muslim Women in Swat Valley

jayanti raman
Today is being celebrated the international women's day all over the world, wherein women are fighting for equal rights with the men on the international women's day. In the same era Pakistani women in Swat valley are not getting even some of the basic and fundamental rights. They are being treated like prisoners and second class citizen in their own country.

Swat Valley- on international women's day
On the international women's day in Swat valley after the Taliban peace accord with Pakistani civilian government, women are being more or less confined to their homes. Women of Swat valley fear that even at home they are not safe.

Today all over the world women are celebrating international women's day, but Swat valley in the Pakistan, a women cannot move from her house without a male company. The Women in order to get some of the basic items for their house from market has to wait for her male relative arrival. She by herself cannot move out of the house.

Taliban have imposed strict rules for women that even sick and pregnant women cannot go out for hospital without her husband accompanying her. Women cannot go to market without her a company of male relative.

Women have to wear burqas - International women's day
Women in swat valley cannot go out of her house without a shuttlecock burqas, and if a woman is found without the burqas she will be beaten publicly and even be killed by Taliban. Such is the sad state of life of women in swat valley in Pakistan.

No TV or Music or DVD - International women's day

Taliban hardliners have banned TV, cable TV music and even DVD or any entertainment in Swat valley. Most of the women in the Swat valley feel bored without any entertainment. They even cannot go out without their male relative.

No beauty Parlor - International Women's day
Taliban consider women going to beauty parlor as anti Islamic and the punishment is death. In this modern world these restrictions are barbaric and inhuman.

Destruction of girl's school - International Women's day

No education for girls after class three, education in this world is a must for each and every one. But it is unfortunate this basic right is not being given women in Swat valley.

Militants have destroyed 122 girls school and more than 50000 girls students are left without schools. A girl cannot study beyond class three in Swat valley. Slowly Pakistan is being pushed to dark ages by the Taliban.

Therefore women are terrified locked up at home and fearing death if they go alone ,women are oppressed by Taliban terrorists in Swat valley in Pakistan and have noting to celebrate on international women's day.

Hence it is my duty as a writer to bring the truth in front of the world on the International women's day.

This is incredible, especially in this day and age. Just another reminder of how different the values and perspectives on life of religious Muslims are...

Jayanti - THANK YOU for bringing us this truth. I hope you find a lot of ways to spread this information. For some reason and very ironically, the most liberal Americans, who want the most extensive "tolerance", "freedom" and "rights" are starting to romanticize life in Arab countries, not knowing that women have no rights.

This is beyond terrible. My Gosh.. what if a woman goes into labor and there is no male to take her to the hospital? What if she hemorrhages to death and there is no help for her? Why is their thinking this backward?!

As long as the leadership among the Islamic countries support or even tolerate the Taliban and their extremism, these conditions will not change.
