The internet is simply a world-wide network of computers that allows individuals the capability of connecting to other computers on a global scale in order to obtain numerous types of information.

1. Surf the internet for information with search engines.
2. Exchange information, such as email, video, music, and files transfers.
3. Hyper transfer protocol(Http)
4. World Wide Web (WWW)
5. Hyper text markup language (HTML).
6. ISP/IP
7. Instant messaging
8. Servers and browsers
9. Exchange information externally and internally over the internet with clients and employees
10. Upload and download information.
11. Conduct business globally
12. Save time and money
13. Order merchandise, and sell products over the internet.
14. Research statistics and business stocks. Intranet

An intranet is a mini internet that is used within an internal network by a company and requires user access and is protected by a firewall.

1. Use firewall
2. Use web browser as interface.
3. Requires no third party software.
4. Based off internet
5. Extremely flexible
6. Saves money for organizations and company's
7. Allows users to share documents.
8. Allows users to find documents.
9. Allows employees to work together without physically being present.
10. Allows employees to immediately communicate.

The Extranet is similar to an intranet with the exception it is a website that permits companies and individuals limited access.

1. Allows additional security over the intranet.
2. Allows remote users, such as telecommuters the ability to obtain internal access.
3. Uses WWW and internet protocols
4. For the exchange of data between company employees.
5. Reduce errors.
6. Makes operations more effective with modernization.
7. Increases the efficiency of business productivity and overall speed of the business.
