Friendly Internet Browsing for Kids

Pamala L. Ott
My daughter loves to play on her laptop while her Daddy works from home. The problem was controlling what websites she was visiting and also allowing her to explore without the help of myself or her Daddy since she is only 3 years old and can't type to do a Google search.

My husband and I wanted to find a kid friendly browser which filtered out the inappropriate materials found on the Internet and filtered in the kids games, learning activities, and websites from her favorite television shows (Playhouse Disney). After much research and searching we came across a browser called KidZui is an online community where your child can create an identity and explore the community that acts as a Internet browser. It filters in only appropriate materials for the children but pulls it from all areas of the Internet.

There are games to play, videos to watch, educational sites, and much much more. So much so that a child will never get bored while using the browser.

Also KidZui has parental controls so if you don't want your child seeing videos from sites such as YouTube you can filter those out. All material your child sees can be decided by what you prefer for your child. If you want only educational materials to be shown, just chose that option and your child will only see those options.

This site also grows with your child. As your child gets older you can change what sites your child can visit and allow her more exploration around the Internet.

And one of the best features that my husband and I liked was that you can have KidZui email you with the sites your child has been visiting and then tailor the browser towards her interests or change your parental controls if you don't like the sites she's visiting.

KidZui is free to download or you can purchase a paid subscription to access the full features of KidZui. The free version though has a lot of useful features and websites if you do not wish to pay for a subscription.
