Keywords
One of the first things I do when starting an Internet marketing campaign is to pick my keywords. I use Webconfs keyword suggestion tool. The keyword suggestion tool can be very powerful in your Internet marketing campaign. If you have a website already, enter the url of the website. It will crawl your site and let you know all the relevant keywords for your site and how much traffic each keyword can bring. If your site is not complete, crawl the top competitor in your market. Simply do a Google search for the main keywords in your market. Study the websites on the first two pages and analyze them for keyword content.
I will use my business, Genesee Crest Ltd, as an example. I am in the marketing business. "Marketing" has 87,270 searches each month. Although in marketing, I am mostly in the field of Internet marketing. The keyword suggestion tool shows that 27,990 searches are done each month on "internet marketing", but another 25,350 searches are done each month on "Internet marketing". It also shows that "web site marketing" gets 19,710 searches, while "website marketing" gets 15,960 searches. There are about 50 relevent keywords for my site.
So when you start your Internet marketing campaign, first do research to find out what the relevent keywords are for your business. The next thing you do is to put those keywords in the meta description of your html. There is some controversy among those in Internet marketing that meta tags are no longer needed. The meta tag for keywords is used by Yahoo to help with ranking your site, so it is advisable to install your keywords for maximum Internet marketing advantage.
Internet Marketing Research
Becoming successful in Internet marketing takes a lot of research. Many people are attracted to building a business on the Internet, but most don't seem to realize that building a business on the Internet takes just as much work as building a brick and mortar business. For me the real advantage to building an Internet business is the cost. An Internet business and Internet marketing is much less expensive than building a brick and mortar business.
Traffic
Now that we have a website and keywords the next step in internet marketing is getting traffic. I obtain traffic by social marketing optimization and social networking. I build blogs. Blogs are wonderful creatures in internet marketing. A blog can be used to attract traffic or direct traffic. Due to the programming of a blog, blogs index well with the search engines. That means you have a chance of ranking high with the articles you write for your blog.
Do you want to be successful at internet marketing? Write articles! If you have the money you can pay for advertising with a Pay Per Click campaign. When the money runs out, so does the clicks. Making money with Internet marketing by utilizing "social marketing optimization" will pay off with long term profits. If you start a blog and write about the same subject everyday for two years you will have a chance at becoming an authority on the subject. Of course this assumes you can write.
Writing for internet marketing is a learned art. This article is a good example of how it is done. Pick a keyword. For this article the main keyword is "Internet marketing." Notice that when I am talking about Internet marketing I use the keywords, "Internet marketing" I do not refer to Internet marketing by any other word. This makes the keywords "Internet marketing" stand out when the search engines spider the article. Internet marketing showing up in the article a lot, is keyword density. Keyword density along with linking is what gets your article to the top of the search engines and keeps it there.
Linking
Now we get down to work. In Internet marketing we need traffic, readers and revenue. We get these things by writing quality content and then embarking on a linking campaign designed to attract attention. I downloaded a complete instruction manual by a girl named Michelle MacPhearson. Michelle's instruction manual, (it's free) is at Social Media Daily. If you follow Michelle's instructions you will put in at least 40 hours each week building a link campaign to the articles you write. Lot of work? So is digging ditches, Internet marketing pays better, you decide.
This article on Internet marketing is meant as an introduction to internet marketing. This is what I do for a living. Many business's have a website and very little or no traffic. It is not uncommon for those business's to need an internet marketing professional to handle their social media marketing. I set up blogs, write articles and conduct linking campaigns. You can either perform your own Internet marketing or hire someone like me.
