Internet Resources for Teacher Worksheets for the Classroom
Free and Inexpensive Sites for Making Classroom Worksheets
One of my favorite sites is edhelper.com. The site is well organized and easy to maneuver. You can search by subject, grade or theme. There is quite an extensive list of children's literature units. Journals as well as writing prompts and review questions can be printed out for a specific book. There are pages for creating your own puzzles and games. You can save word lists to be used later. The site provides a broad range of activities for various grade levels. Edhelper.com also provides standardized test preparation activities according to grade level. A nominal membership fee is required for use of the site. You can pay a little more and have access to materials for all grade levels-a great feature for a home schooling mom teaching several children.
Another good site for creating worksheets is enchantedlearning.com . This site also requires an annual fee. It is geared more for lower elementary students. One great aspect of this site is the many activity books you can print out. The books provide coloring activities along with reading pages and writing exercises. These cover all the core subjects as well as some beginning foreign languages, holidays and cultural celebrations. Many craft ideas with detailed instructions can also be found on this site. There are several variations on the word wheel, which can be printed on cardstock and used in classroom centers.
A good free source of worksheets is schoolexpress.com . This site has over sixteen thousand free worksheets covering all the basic subjects as well as thinking skills, Sudoku and character traits. Online games are another fun aspect of this teacher resource. For a small price, you can download entire units of study. There are also the options of creating quizzes, puzzles, word walls and flash cards. Another fun aspect of this site is the templates to make your own classroom rewards.
Thanks to the internet there are some wonderful time-saving resources out there to make the teacher's job a little easier and the students' learning experiences even more interesting.
