Web History
Recently Google released 'Web History'. What is this new service offered by Google? Web history is such a feature which enables you to keep track of all your web search activities you performed in your system. From now onwards you won't loss any web page you searched. Sometime we often search for a particular website using few keywords and forget to bookmark that with Internet Explorer bookmark service of our system. Later at some point of time if we want to get that page (or search result) back it is often very difficult to retrieve that same page by search engine. In order to get the exact result what you got earlier you need to provide the exact keywords you used last time. Google made that easy for you. Web history keeps track of your entire search activities. If you at least know the date range when you did that search, web history will help you to get that back for you.
I am really impressed by this tool. Web history will display your search activities by date and time wise. You can see what you searched on a specific date. You can also see the time when you performed that search activity. All search results will be displayed grouped by date and with a link. The exact keywords used will be displayed under the heading 'Searched for' with a link to search result you received during that search. And then the sites visited form that search result will be displayed just below of the 'Searched for' heading. You can categories your search into web, images, news, products, video, maps, and sponsored links. These all categories again help you to understand the search made under a specific category and help you to retrieve the search result easily.
The Function 'Pause'
The function 'Pause' is yet another interesting feature of web history. If you don't want Google to track your search you can do that by using pause function. You need to click on the link 'Pause' and Google will stop collecting search history for you. You can resume the web search history by clicking the link 'Resume' again.
Trend
You can also analyze and see your web history data. You can find out which site you visit more often through Google search, which type of query you put more often etc. You can also view 'Top Sites', 'Top Queries' and 'Top Clicks' for last 7 days, last month, last year and for all time. Again you can see the trend of search activities you do in hourly, monthly and daily basis. From this trend you can have an idea what time of a day you use maximum Internet at your computer. It gave me a great data that I personally use my computer maximum at around night 9 o'clock after my dinner. Check out what time you use the Internet maximum.
Interesting Items
Google will also suggest few interesting sites based on your previous search trend. For me I really got few interesting sites based on my interest. You do search on Internet for those things for which you have interest. If Google suggests something based on your search history that will surely returns something of your own interest only. Google also display recent top queries related to our search under this link of 'Interesting Items'.
Bookmark
At the end I am going talk about another interesting feature within this web history feature. You can create your own web bookmark with Google. Wherever you go your bookmark will be with you. Suppose you are not using your own computer and want to see your bookmark, you won't be able to use your own Internet Explorer bookmark in this case. Just login to iGoogle and retrieve your own bookmarks.
