This year's "Digital Delight," Internet Week 2010 was held in New York from June 7-14 and presented by International Academy of Digital Arts and Sciences and "Powered by" Yahoo! The event took place at the IWNY headquarters, located at Chelsea's Metropolitan Pavilion and at other locations around the City, promised to astonish all who attended. With New York quickly becoming an almost unlikely technology capital of the nation, Internet Week NY has taken off with more and more events each year since 2008's first expo. From the minds of the sponsors and the attendees, the highlights of the week are not the least bit subdued and very unexpected.

Mashable Media Summit: June 8, 2010 at TheTimesCenter

New York, NY 10018. One of the biggest events of the week was the Mashable Media Summit, presented by CNN and sponsored by Yahoo, HP and others. In attendance to the one-day event were Peter Cashmore, the founder of Mashable, Sanjay Gupta Chief medical Correspondent for CNN, and the founder of Foursquare Dennis Crowley, among many others. They gathered to talk about all things social media and to focus on the ramifications Social Media has on each industry as a whole. For example, what is it doing to the Sports industry? What about the Entertainment or Hospitality industries?

As a bonus to attending and hearing what many famous names had to say, all of those who attended received a free phone from Motorola, certainly a highlight of any day to receive a free phone, is it not? The only downfall to the Mashable Media Summit was the fact that only one session was open to questions and given the nature of the event itself, more time was warranted for question and answer sessions.

Mashable Teams with PepsiCo for Startup Competition

Another highlight of the Internet Week New York 2010 is another Mashable event. In addition to the Summit events, Mashable also teamed up with PepsiCo as a supporting sponsor to initiate PepsiCo10, a way to introduce start up companies in the field of social media, mobile marketing and others to mentors in their industry. This will not only match these companies with renowned industry professionals inside PepsiCo, but also give them a chance and a forum to pilot their new social media and mobile media related products. Because this is a competition between startup companies, requirements to enter are involved; for more information, visit the PepsiCo10 website.

The Yahoo! Provoke Summit June 7, 2010

The Yahoo! Provoke Summit was one of the biggest events of the week, presented and hosted by Yahoo! themselves. The opening speech, given by Ze Frank renowned speaker at the TED Talks, focused on the evolution of man and the Internet and talked about the future views and possibilities of marketers and consumers coming together. Additionally, the panelists and discussions focused on how all are using new social media and other online products to revolutionize the future of technology. Other speakers included Contagious Magazine's Nick Parish and Makerbot's Bre Pettis, The Modern Day Pirates and many others.

Two new Product Launches: HP & Microsoft

Saturday brought two events that were highly anticipated; the launch of the Microsoft Expression Studio 4 and the HP launch of HP's "Future of Printing" consisting of Cloud Aware and Web Connected. These two launches signaled some of the greatest advances in web application technology melded with offline programming and peripherals. Microsoft's Expression Studio 4 is a suite designed for professional designers by professional designers and promised better workflow between designer and development which will lead to faster development and a shorter amount of time between inception of a project to marketing of that project.

The HP launch signals a new start in web enabled printing; an entirely new category in which better integration between web and print is attainable and designed especially for cloud based printing. These new capabilities include storing and printing from the cloud on-demand, customizable apps for printing on a schedule, for example from a news source whenever a new article is released, the ability to print from anywhere, including all devices and email accounts and full management capabilities using the HP ePrint solution. Additionally, HP has launched "e-All-in-One" printers to take full advantage of the new cloud based capabilities. These printers come in all prices ranging from $99 to $299 and come with Photo Creation software from HP. For more information, visit the HP Internet Week New York website.
