In the beginning, there was just a bunch of dry bones scattered across a valley. Which represents a person whom doesn't acknowledge that God exists whatsoever.
The next stage, which is really the first stage, is the bone returning to bone. This is the stage of repentance, where the individual or the sinner realizes their sinful state and returns to God. Repentance is when an individual admits to the their sins, goes to the Lord for forgiveness, and sins no more.
The second stage, is the flesh and sinews coming upon the bones and the skin covering over them. In this stage, shape is given to what was just scattered but they are still lacking the power to move. This represents the state of many churchgoers today. A lot of church people know the right things to say and they know when and how to react to things in church, but they lack the ability to get results. They have a form of godliness yet they don't have the power to produce godly results in their own lives.
The third stage is when the wind or breath blows on the lifeless bodies. This is the stage where the individual receives the Holy Spirit. This is where the Holy Spirit comes upon the believer and gives them that power or that ability to get results. Just like when the disciples received Holy Spirit on the day of Pentecost, there were no real results until He showed up.
I'm now beginning to realize once again that this shows how important the Holy Spirit is to our living. When we lean on our own understandings, things don't go the way we hope to them to. When we acknowledge the Holy Spirit or lean on the Holy Spirit, we can get the results that we desire from God. For anyone doubting this process, go to Luke 3:21-22 and Luke 4:14. Why don't we hear about Jesus doing miracles before age 30? The answer is that he had to receive the Holy Spirit first, before he could do God's work. When Jesus was baptized by John the Baptist, as he came up out of the water, the Spirit descended upon him. After this happen is when Jesus began his ministry and it works the exact same way for us. When the Holy Spirit isn't there, there can be no true manifestation of power.
