Intervention on A&E, a Realistic Look into the Lives of Alcoholics and Addicts, and the People Who Love Them

Intervention

Kurt Evans
The show called Intervention On A & E is a realistic look into the lives of alcoholics and addicts, and the people who love them.

Drugs And Alcohol

Intervention, shows what the affects of drugs and alcohol are, not only on the individuals themselves; but on everybody around them as well. I can relate to this show so well because I'm a sober alcoholic.

Alcoholics And Addicts

I'm glad that the show is there because it reminds me of the chaos and hell that we alcoholics and addicts go through for our addictions.

Act Of Love

What makes Intervention stand out is the fact that when a supportive group of people get together for the sole purpose of helping someone to get better and giving them an opportunity to live a better life; that's purely an act of love that comes from the heart.

Intervention

On intervention, the addict or alcoholic has agreed to take part in a documentary on addiction. When the intervention happens, family and friends all gather together with a drug and alcohol addiction counselor. When they bring the addicted person into the room they are greeted with hugs and immediately know that they are in a supportive environment, surrounded by family and friends.

Addiction And Relationship

Each person has some information written down that they read off about how this person's addiction has affected their lives and their relationship with the addicted person. Then, the addicted person is given the option of going to treatment.

Help

The person is also informed about what will happen if they choose not to go to treatment to get help for their addiction.

Hope

While an Intervention is never easy, this show gives an addicted person hope to get better and live a better life.

First the substance abuser has to really want help. Someone who does not help will not be helped.

Second, most of the rehabs the addicts are being sent to suscribe to the 12 step model of treatment. That usually leads to years of AA meetings because 12 step treatment does not cure anything. It makes people addicted to AA meetings. Look up the success rates.

An acquaintance from high school was on this show. He and his family tried to help his sister with a painkiller addiction but she ended up being put into a mental health facility. You must imagined my shock when I saw the guy on TV.

If this show actually helps someone, great, but I don't like the show.

I enjoy watching this program. I've had family members with addictions issues. It can be hard to watch.

I have submitted an article just last night about the very real but often misunderstood addicition to food. Perhaps one day A&E will apporach this addiction and shed light on it. Nice article
