Intervention, Episode 110 - Robby Pardlo from City High

Eric Jackson
Intervention is a show where producers and a camera crew follow addicts around under the guise of making a documentary about addiction. They cover the person's life before addiction and try to cover what lead them to this life. At the last interview they sit the family down with an intervention expert and then confront the addict about their addiction. If the addict agrees to go to treatment the show will pay for it.

Robby Pardlo is a Grammy nominated R&B artist who preformed with the group City High he formed with two high school friends. After his girlfriend who was also in the group married their other group mate. City High broke up and Robby became addicted to alcohol and with his over supportive girlfriend he could maintain his addiction. He decides to go to treatment during the intervention.

He's just a drunk who has always had a support structure so he's just going to continue the same way. His mother turns a blind eye to everything he does. The mothers oldest son has two daughters that she's only seen twice because she spends so much time dealing with Robby. Then Robby focus his personal anger on his mother for divorcing his father a few years ago after they were all grown. He's projecting his hurt for losing his girlfriend to his group mate onto his parents. He can't see that single hurt is ruling his life because he's masking it with alcohol.

Top Addict Moment - He's trying to record back up vocals for a new group in a basement studio and he's drinking as he's poorly singing. Each time they have him sing again because he made a mistake he takes a drink. He walks out of the recording booth and he's sweating and his shirt is drenched.

The Intervention - With his family gathered they bring him in and he knows what is going on right away. They sit him down and he gets upset then he stands up because, "I want to see everyone." He watches a few more people read letters about him and his addiction and he agrees to go to treatment.

This episode isn't as good as others such as Alison, but at least it isn't sensational. They see to do a few fall from fame episodes a season, but they are usually dull. This person did it to themselves and if someone had been kind enough to stop them earlier they would have.

Interventionist - Candy Finnigan
