TI: How long have you been in teaching profession; what do you like most about this profession?TY: I have been teaching since 2002. I feel that the beauty of this profession lies in sharing and interaction with the students in classroom. This enables me to explore different avenues of knowledge. TI: What drives you to join in media as news presenter?TY: As a matter of fact, Bangladeshi media has encountered a boom with the arrival of ETV (the first private TV channel of the country). ETV offered scopes for the youngster to join in media. Following ETV, later on, a good number of private channels have launched their venture. Being confident about my ability, I have taken the chance to project my skill in this blooming sector and join in Channel-I. TI: How will you evaluate your career so far (as a faculty & as a news presenter); have you gone through any hurdle in your work places?TY: I'm comfortable with both the jobs because, in both places what I actually do is communicating with people. As far as I'm concerned about my own evaluation, I'm confident in both areas. Suppose, on the screen if audience would not take me cordially, an established private channel like Channel-I would have discarded me. In teaching, similarly, if students would not think me capable enough, I would have been withdrawn as well. So, I feel lucky that I hadn't face any problem in my work-stations.TI: What is your future plan in these careers?Answering second part of your question, I can say that, apart from news presentation, I would like to host at programmes on issues related to children and women. On the other hand, as an academic, I am planning to go for higher studies in abroad within next couple of years. TI: "Media is one of the suitable professions for women" '" how will you assess this statement? TY: I completely agree with the statement. Media is a booming sector in our country. There is a high demand of technically sound people in terms of presentation. In case of news presentation - my perspective is audience are more comfortable with female presenters. Thus, this sector provides a lucrative opportunity for women. TI: What is your overall consideration about the way the private channels are featuring news? There have been instances of manipulation of news items as these TV channels are private owned properties. However, viewers of news are conscious and there is the question of accountability. Thus, apart from few biased channels, most of the channels are presenting credible news.TI: What is your suggestion for the newbies?TY: Anyone confident about his or her ability to communicate with people with good manner and polished language should come in to this blooming sector.
