Interview with Actress and Writer Cerina Vincent

L. Vincent Poupard
Cerina Vincent is both an actress and a writer. While most will know her from her roles in "Cabin Fever," "Power Rangers," and "Not Another Teen Movie," she has branched out over the years to many other types of projects. While covering the Motor City Nightmares horror convention and film festival, I had an opportunity to sit down with her to discuss many of the other projects that she is currently working on and her career in general.

LVP: If I am correct, you are currently filming the movie "Tag?"

CV: That is correct. What is not correct is that Gary Busey is in the movie. For some reason a number of sites have been reporting that. Kane Hodder is in it, along with good 'ol McLovin from "Superbad" Christopher Mintz-Plasse, and others, but not Gary Busey. It is a cool thriller.

LVP: Tell me a little bit about the "Hot Chick" books that you have written.

CV: "How to Eat Like a Hot Chick," "How to Love Like a Hot Chick," and "How to Live Like a Hot Chick" are girlfriend to girlfriend advice books that are entertaining, funny, and enlightening. The goal is to help women live more confidently. I have written them with my friend Jodi Lipper, and I am really proud of them. The books are redefining the term "hot chick" and are helping women to be more confident in themselves. They are separate from the rest of my career, but have given me the opportunity to not have to take every single acting job that comes up.

LVP: In the next five years, do you see yourself pursuing more of the writing, the acting, or to continue to try to have a balance between the two?

CV: I would love there to be a balance. I enjoy being on a set since that is my passion. Seeing each word go into my books, though, is much different. Knowing that women our benefiting from what we are doing is very rewarding to me. I want to continue that series, and I also have some things that I am writing on my own.

LVP: I know that you have written in the past for the Huffington Post. Can you comment at all on the pending lawsuit in which writers for the site are trying to get some type of reimbursement for their contributions?

CV: While I can't mention anything about the suit directly, I can give my opinion on the topic. Not getting paid for writing is just crazy to me. What does this say about the world of journalism? I believe that if people are going to do work, they should be paid for it in some form or another.
