Tonight I had the pleasure of speaking with a soldier in our American Armed Forces. Private Joshua Carter took the time to answer some of my questions and share a little bit of his life as a soldier with me. Private Joshua Carter is a 19 year old young man originally from Oklahoma . He is one of the young men serving to help protect our country. Many thanks to him for taking the time to speak openly with me. Here is what transpired during our interview.

What made you decide to join the army?

Private Joshua Carter: Family. Didn't want my kids to grow up like I did.

What was basic training like?

Private Joshua Carter: It was great. It was a little easier than I thought it was going
to be but it was fun.

Was there anything you didn't like about it?

Private Joshua Carter: It was to easy.

What did you do when you go out of basic?

Private Joshua Carter: I went out and got a cheese burger. lol. Right after basic I went to AIT. No pause.

For the civilians that don't know what AIT is , do you care to explain?

Private Joshua Carter: That is what I plan to do. At least 20 years.

Do you always want to be an enlisted or do you have any plans toward
becoming an officer?

Private Joshua Carter: Not really sure yet. I'm thinking about staying away from officer. I like to do hands
