Interview with the Band: Viking Krue

G.L. Morrison
The world needs music and it needs more musicians like Viking Krue.

Of all the glorious things that the world wide web has brought us, I am continually entranced by the array of art, artists and musicians that are only a click away. My personal quest for the new and delicious finds me spending a lot of time at sites like Deviantart.com (visual arts) and Reverbnation.com (music) and Gotpoetry.com (poetry). It's a pleasure and an honor to introduce some of the gems I've uncovered there. Expect more reviews and interviews. (It's the only way I can justify the amount of time and pure escapist joy I find there.)

The following interview, hopefully the first of many, is of one of my favorite finds on Reverbnation.com. Viking Krue.

Take a music bath once or twice a week for a few seasons. You will find it is to the soul what a water bath is to the body. ~Oliver Wendell Holmes

I interviewed Magnus, the lead singer of the Canadian band, Viking Krue. The answers to my queries was just what I expected-- as unusual as the music itself.

Q:

What or who is Viking Krue?

Magnus:
Viking Krue is the musical amalgamation of a tight knit and diverse group of friends and family.

Q:
That's the what. What's the who?

Magnus:
Viking Krue is headed by me/Magnus (Demolition Dave) and Komputellius (Skye D. Kay) on Vocals. Beverlius serves as a spiritual and creative energy coordinator.

Q:
And?

Magnus:
And... Franky Bones has supplied some axe work. Reverend Spear plays guitar on LOL / LOL Junior.

Q:
LOL is such an appropriate song for an "internet band".

Magnus:
Kolukulaas does the Junior male vocals on LOL Junior and Krushed Bananas. Dankoori is the male lead on LOL. The Junior Vikings have appeared in the "Jellybutter" video and some voices are on "Bubbleszzs".

Q:
"Bubbleszzs" was the first song I heard but "Jellybutter" seems to be the instant favorite of everyone who hears it.

Magnus
(smiles and the glint in his eye is as mischievious as the gleaming horns on his hat.)

Viking krue has a mandate to make Music (RAWKK KANDEE) for Big Kidds.

Q:
Advice for fans and soon to be fans?

Magnus:
Don't let your inner child hold back. Have some fun.

Q:
Look out for more from this unique combination.

Magnus:

If we can make you smile, I believe we have done our job. We must make ourselves smile first though. We do not have any official releases to speak of. But we're working on it, one day soon I hope.

Q:
What's next for Viking Krue?

Magnus:
Check out the new demo track"Mango Tangle" or is it "Mango Tango"?

Q:
Which is it? "Mango Tangle" or "Mango Tango"?

Magnus:
Don't know yet. Have a listen... it's under 2 minutes. Short and sweet.

Q:
You're an underground internet sensation but is it true you've never done a show as a group?

Magnus:
It's true.

Q:
Of course whether its still true that depends on when this is published or read. Internet is forever and therefore not always timely. Timeless but untimely.

Magnus:
Although most of the core of the band has live experience. But we will do a show soon.

Q:
Anything secret tidbits for fans?

Magnus:
Viking (Magnus) is almost 3 times bigger than Skye. That's all I've got for now.

Q:
That's all we need.
