Date of Interview: 01-03-2007
On January 3, 2007, I had the pleasure of interviewing local Christian music artist, Logan Lindvigsmoen. He is an extremely talented young man who deserves to be heard. He has a strong voice with powerful lyrics that do not conform to the formula. His music is unfiltered and raw. It is just how Christian music should be. Here is how our interview went.

AE: Logan, I am really pleased to be interviewing you today. Thank you for coming.

Logan: Thank you for this opportunity.

AE:I have listened to your CD "Who I Am Today". Why did you choose that title?

Logan: I was trying to think of a title that would fit for each song on the CD. It originally started out to be a five song album, but I became so energized that it quickly became an eleven track CD. I feel that life is a journey and making this CD was just one step in my journey. So I thought one day that is CD is where I am now at this point in my journey and that is when I decided that I would title this CD where I am today.

AE: I have to admit that I love your CD. It has catchy rhythms. What inspires you to compose?

Logan: Life in general. I try to look at things with a spiritual spin. Sometimes at the computer I treat my music like a job. I want to express life everyday because it evolves and is always newly inspiring.

AE: What made you realize that you wanted to create music? How old where you when you first began to play and what instrument do you play?

Logan: About 6 or 7, I picked up a guitar. I liked to hang with people who played and thought it was cool. At 11, I realized that this was something I wanted to do for a career. I got serious. I worked with my parents when I got older so I had a little more free time than I think most kids did. I practiced everyday for 5 to 6 hours and I wrote my first song. That was when I really became interested in making music.

AE: When I first listened to you latest CD the song Never Again stays with me. What message are you trying to portray in the lyrics of that song?

Logan: Everyone is looking for something. This is my offering, my final thought. It is what I feel, You can take it or leave it. I wanted this song to have a message. Your make your own decisions. I don't want to sound preachy but, I did want to convey a message of God's love.

AE: When I listen to " In the silent hours", I can see you. As with everyone they try to find their way. Is this a song about how you found yours?

Logan: I believe that life is a journey and that the journey doesn't end until you are dead. Even then I believe the journey continues. I believe that making this CD was just one step in my journey and I hope to continue writing and recording.

AE: How would you describe your music style? Who inspires you?

Logan: I had a lot of musical influences in my life. My dad is from Norway so I grew up even listening to Scandinavian music. I call my style Scandinavian/Folk/Blues. It's a combination of what I grew up listening to. God inspires me the most. I like Third Day and Bebo Norman. I also found inspiration in their music.

AE: Do you have a song that you are kind is a favorite?

Logan: I like all of the songs on this CD. Not My Will is one I feel is one of my favorites. When I first wrote the song it had a completely different sound. It had a pop tune and when I got to the recording studio I felt that the message was just to heavy for such a happy tune. I spoke with the recording engineer and right there in the studio I recorded a completely different guitar piece to go with the lyrics. The first take is what we actually used in the CD. It was awesome.

AE: In No Other Name, you sing in Norwegian. What inspired that song?

Logan: Nothing I put with the first set of lyrics went the way I wanted it to. I just could not figure out how to make any other lyrics flow with the song like I wanted it to. So I went to my dad and asked him to translate what I had into Norwegian and it just seem to fit. It was nice to get to work with him and to be able to create this song.

AE:I believe that music has a way of reaching to people that plan words do not. Do you have hopes for furthering your exposure to the world and get you music heard in more places?

Logan: Absolutely, I don't know where God is going to take my music but, I am up for anything he throws my way. If an opportunity is there I am going to take. One thing I know for sure is that music is something I want to always be apart of whether it is just for myself, a small coffee house, or more. I just love it.

AE: Where do you hope to be musically in ten years?

Logan: Still doing it. I hope to have a little more exposure and maybe 20 CD's made. I hope to be playing my music for a living.

AE: Right now for anyone interested in your music where can it be found?

Logan: My music can be found through my website www.loganlind.com.

AE: Thank you for your time I want to give you the last word. What do you hope for you music and what do you want people to get out of you music the most?

Logan: I never want to sound preachy and I people no matter what they believe to enjoy the music. I always say, " Keep it real. Don't get lost in your image."
