If you are in the market this spring for a movie that will make you laugh as well as spark one or two intellectual thoughts then look no further than the forthcoming release, Revenge of The Bimbot Zombie Killers! Yes you are reading the title correctly. The premise is a simple one. When evil Dr. Agatha Von Krahpenpantz(pronounced crap-in-pants) attempts to create a zombie army to take over the world, it is up to down-on-his-luck Dr. Warren Oedi, of secret agency Department Gamma, to intervene. Being mankind's last hope by default, Dr. Oedi continues his father's lifework and perfects the Bimbot-making process, giving him the ultimate weapon in his battle against the undead.

Now before you dismiss this film project as just another boorish comedy be forwarned, Revenge of The Bimbot Zombie Killers promises the type of comedy we have come to love and respect from folks such as Mel Brooks, Gene Wilder and the original Get Smart. It is over the top when it needs to be, irreverent and it skewers everything from the trend of going green to outsourcing. It's a farce but it's also topical. It will make you laugh, it will make you think and there is even a big musical number to be had. I had the pleasure of sitting down with film makers Joe Camareno, Stephanie Wiand and Tyler Tanner to get the scoop on this up coming feature length film.

Associated Content: How do all three of you know each other? Is this the first movie you have worked on together?

Stephanie Wiand: This is the first film project that we have worked on together. It's the third project that Tyler, Jeff Folschinsky and I have worked on together. We did an audio podcast together called Virgin Falls and did an online spoof of the telenovela genre called Pasiones Obsesionantes (Haunting Passions). We also worked together doing a live theater, soap opera styled late night comedy show in Hollywood that gained a pretty strong following.

Associated Content: What keeps this team coming back together?

Joe Camareno: We have a great rapport with each other and our working styles really mesh.

Associated Content: What inspired you all to create Revenge of The Bimbot Zombie Killers?

Joe Camareno: Well we had just finished the telenovela and there were two characters in the telenovela that I really loved! I wanted to get these two archetypes into something else. We made these two characters into secret agents and then Jeff and I sat down and figured out a story. We called these guys in to flesh everything out...we did a reading, we had our scripts, added some extra scenes and we shot everything in September.

Tyler Tanner: What made this project fun was the fact that we had a lot of trust between us to each take a chapter of this movie and write it out ourselves and then come back and see how it really flowed together. That kind of trust made the job more fun instead of a daunting task.

Stephanie Wiand: We were also able to weave our own personalities into the writing. Tyler is into random historical references and it shows up in the film!

Tyler Tanner: There may only be three people in the audience that will get the joke but those are the three people I am looking to get so it works out...hence the Buddhist Lenin character!!!

Associated Content: The movie takes sharp aim at everything from going green to outsourcing to Religion. Is the goal of the film to make people laugh and think?

Stephanie Wiand: I don't think we are trying to make a big point but just in terms of good old fashion story telling there is the idea of the underdog...it's a universal story about the underdog winning...part of what we have done is, mainstreamed the idea of having a very ethnically diverse cast in this type of film. Everyone is on a level playing field...you don't really see a Latin element in a sci-fi spoof/comedy. We have tried to broaden the appeal of this type of film...there are all sorts of things that we have done that make our projects very unique.

Tyler Tanner: We do not want to do "toilet" humor. As silly as it is, we definitely went through a process with regards to telling this story. People watching it will see that we had a blast making this film.

Associated Content: In the trailer I noticed Herbert Siguenza from the acclaimed satirist troupe Culture Clash is in the film. How did you cajole him to be a part of this project?

Joe Camareno: He is a good friend of mine and he agreed to be part of this.

Associated Content: Is there still an audience that wants to laugh and be challenged like this?

Joe Camareno: I think so...if something is quality and done well it's going to stick out and it's going to grab the attention of its audience. I mean when the TV show Frasier first premiered people said it was too smart, too heady, no one will get it and it was on for twelve seasons so I do think there is an audience that wants to be challenged.

Tyler Tanner: We are also fans of the genre...we are familiar with it. I have been involved with projects where it has been a chore to write!! This was not the case!

Stephanie Wiand: At the end of the day we are taking a broad appeal genre with a new vision and trail blazing on it.

Associated Content: When does the film come out and how will you get people to see it?

Joe Camareno: The hope is to get it out by March...late March early April and we will definitely submit it to the film festivals...we will also be using the internet to promote the film as much as possible!

Associated Content: Do you all have any other projects in the works?

Joe Camareno: We are already thinking of a sequel to this film and Stephanie and I are working on season two of a web series on You Tube that I am producing called "Ylse".

Tyler Tanner: Jeff Folschinsky and I are working on an audio podcast about the crusades....should be hilarious!!

Prepare yourself for an irreverent look at good versus evil when Revenge of The Bimbot Zombie Killers hits the indie-Film circuit in your area.
