The new year means setting resolutions. For moms, finding time to exercise is always towards the top of the list. A new DVD from Gabriel Reece is making it a little easier. Gabby, 39, is a former pro-athlete, writer, TV host, and most importantly a mom who knows how hard it is to find balance. Gabby and I recently connected on the phone for a half-hour interview focusing on her new DVD set for expecting moms: "Gabrielle Reece: The Complete Fit & Healthy Pregnancy Workout." The two DVD set offers four sets of workouts (and some extras)-one for each trimester and a post-baby workout.

The DVD offers easy to follow workouts and expert instruction from her trainer, Mike Monroe. I was impressed with the presentation and give the DVD a big thumbs up. I wanted to find out how this project cam about and learn Gabby's tips for getting moms moving. Gabby shared some of her mommy motivation in this interview.

Q. How did The Complete Fit & Healthy Pregnancy Workout come about?

I was doing a project called Express 15 Workouts (editor's note: these workouts are non-maternity) and found out I was pregnant. I told the guys I was working with that I was 6 weeks pregnant and the idea came about for a 'real time' fitness pregnancy workout. Everyone involved liked the idea. We decided to fund the project ourselves since time was short.

Q. I love the trimester plan. Can you explain it a bit more?

We divided the workouts into three different groups and shot it during each trimester. So we shot when I was 3.5 months., 6 months and 8 and a half months pregnant-I didn't want to push it out further to risk delivery.

Q. I know you did a video called Express 15. Why the 15 minute time frame?

We've found that is the magic number. People say, "I can deal with that...in my life this is what I can get in." Pregnant or not, the number one thing that stops people from moving is that they don't have time.

Q. I love that the workouts don't require a ton of gear. What's the reason?

One of the reasons people say they don't workout is that they don't have the right equipment. All you need for this is an exercise ball and dumbbells-most people already have these.

Q. Any tips to help moms meet their fitness goals?

Team up with two or three good friends. Stick with people who motivate you. Figure out ways to free up time. Watch each other's kids while the other moms workout. Get it in when you can...15 minutes in 5 days a week is great. Leave all the judgment out of it. If all you can fit in one day is a walk around the block, great. Some days I can only squeeze in 20 minutes and that has to work.

In addition to her new DVD, Gabby has a website geared to sharing her fabulous finds called The Honeyline. She's also teamed up with her trainer Mike Monroe on a new concept in fitness Train 360 an Online daily workout program. Every exercise is linked to a short HD video clip with Gabby and Mike demonstrating the exercise. All moves can be downloaded to your computer or ipod or accessed at anytime in the Exercise Gallery section.

Sounds very interesting. I wish when I was pregnant so many years ago that exercise would have been stressed more. I had a hard delivery, and I think it could have been easier if I was more in shape.
