Interview with a Phone Sex Operator

I must say I was a little reluctant to interview a phone sex operator, but it is all part of the job I suppose, as it would make an interesting and entertaining article. And after my talk with one, my thoughts slightly changed on how I saw women who did this as a job.

I have a friend who hinted that she was thinking about being a phone sex operator. I let the comment slide by as I was extremely busy at the time, but curiosity got the best of me and I called Bonnie up. She admitted she did get a job as a phone sex operator and that is how this article came to be.

What ever caused you to look into becoming a phone sex operator? Well, I needed the income, as you know I have a family to feed. Being a single mother not permitted on welfare, with no healthcare, insurance of any kind, I had to do something. My job was outsourced to somewhere like India and I was laid off. I had done some research online for virtual jobs, work at home jobs, stay at home mothers, and came across a site that had legitimate adult jobs. I admit at first I was a little shocked but once I looked into the income and how I set my own hours, I knew this was something I could do. I mean really think about it. A job you can do from home, do your laundry, cooking and cleaning and pay your bills, plus be able to pick your kids up from school. It is a perfect job for me.

Didn't the moral implications of being a phone sex operator bother you at all? Well, as I said I'm single, so I saw no problem in it. Men call and I simply tell a story and pretend. I'm nothing more then an actress doing a job. I focus on the fact it puts food in my babies stomach, and clothes on their back.

Do your kids know about this? No, and I don't think I will tell them either. It's not that I'm embarrassed by what I'm doing, it's just that it's too mature for them to understand right now.

Do you tell other people about you being a phone sex operator?Bonnie laughed.. Heck no! I tell them I'm an actress and leave it at that.

I'm curious how does this all work? Do you have your own phone line or what? There are companies that help you get started by subcontracting you. I've gone through that path but after a while I saw I could make more money doing it direct. You get your own 1 -900 number, you place ads and you wait for the calls. It cost money to do it yourself which is why I went through the subcontracting process first. I had no money to do a thing on my own, plus lack of knowledge.

Aren't you concerned about stalkers and such? Oh come on! Why would I? Nothing links back to me. I don't use my real name, the number I ordered I was able to get privacy protection, and the same with the website.

You have a website? You didn't tell me! I responded in shock, as Bonnie didn't seem very computer literate. Yes, it helps spread the word and I have even been thinking of expanding having other women work under me.

Like a madam? No, boy you really are stiff. You have to remember, it's ALL FAKE. Everyone has needs, my needs is to pay my bills, the callers needs is to alleviate themselves, or just talk to a live person and feel loved. It's like a public service, only with a fee.

Isn't it false advertisement to show pictures that aren't you on the ads? No not exactly if you read the fine print it covers me. It says something like how the operator may not be the one pictured.

But when they call, don't they ask if you look like that big titted woman? Some do, some don't, the ones who don't ask me what I look like, and I just make up something or probe for what they are into and I claim to be that.

How do you keep your kids from knowing about this? Well I work when they are at school, and in bed. That's the high traffic time anyway.

This may be a bit personal, and you certainly don't have to answer it, but have you ever been turned on? Yes, from time to time, it really all depends upon my mood. In the beginning it happened a lot. But now I'm mostly numb, I have a basic script I stick to.

Have you ever been affected by a caller personally? There was one, he didn't want the usual, he was young maybe even under 18 I couldn't really tell. He had deep personal issues with his friends, and co-workers. I felt extremely bad for him and wanted to help, but there was nothing I could do. He would call a few times a week and suddenly I never heard from him again. I often wonder what happened to him, and if he's still alive. It's those rare calls that stick with you through the night.

So you have return callers? Yes I have regulars and it's them that keep coming back that cause me to grow. I have to keep changing things up, keeping it fresh, which is really hard to do when they call all the time.

Do you think others should get into this line of work, and if so any advice?Bonnie took deep breath.. I'm not sure I would, I mean... there are a lot of other jobs people can do. I just don't have the education or connections. I was already trained in a call center, so using phones all day was common to me. It was something I was comfortable doing. I was mad, and desperate and the income is way more then I was making. As for advice, I think if you are going to get into something like this, you need to be prepared. I wouldn't tell anyone that you fear judgment from. I knew you would be ok to tell, because you are open minded and will listen, and I think you agree, when you are a mother, your morals don't seem to matter when your kids are crying for food, needing medical care and clothes not to mention a roof over their head. If you are going to go this route, you need a headset for your phone. You got to have hands free so you can do other things. That would be one of the first things to invest in I could recommend, well besides a 1 - 900 number if you aren't going through the subcontracting.

After speaking with Bonnie about this, asking questions both you may be wondering and myself, I am still conflicted. I feel it's lying misleading others to believe something you aren't, but at the same time, don't film and television actresses do the same thing? I'm not real sure how I feel about all this, but I do understand when you need a job, and it comes to supporting your children, you will do whatever you have to do to make it. My mother often threatened the same thing when we were young.
