Interview: Ryann Wood, Up and Coming Gay Porn Star

We'd be lying through our teeth if we said we don't watch porn. We've got the our room lined in flatscreens playing Falcon flicks and Mustang movies all day long. In our world, celebrities aren't measured by octave range and oscar nods, but by a simple ruler. Imagine our delight when we found out one of our fav newcummers, Ryann Wood, was a Philadelphian. Hooray for the City of Brotherly Love! We tracked down hunky Ryann and after sizing him up, tried to get the behind the scene scoop on adult entertainment.

MR: So you're a Philadelphian?
RW: I'm from upstate New York. I moved here three years ago with my boyfriend.

How did you get started in porn?
Chad Lee, who lives in the area, scouted me out online. I was in Fort Lauderdale on vacation, and met up with Howard Andrew, who is now my agent. I told him if he could get me good productions, I'd do it. I didn't want to do shady movies.

What does your boyfriend think of your career?
When I was first approached, I thought, "I can't do it." My boyfriend said, "You're young, you have to do it." I was heavy when I was younger, and worked hard to get into shape. My boyfriend felt this was my payback for the time I spent putting into my appearance. He loves it. He pushed me to get the website up.

How long have you been in the biz?
Less than a year. I've done six movies total, four of them are out and two are on their way.

Is the business everything you dreamed of?
I don't do drugs, and I was worried I would run into a lot of drug use. There's no drugs on set. I thought I'd run into the "I'm so gorgeous" attitude. So far, everyone has been so sweet.
No drug-fueled orgies?
No drugs, and it's all very, very safe.

Were you scared your first time?
My first movie was Manplay 25 and the director was Ray Dragon. He's been in a lot of movies, and it was good that he was my first. He was a great director, really a laid back. I stayed at his place the night before and we spent time talking. I was nervous and he really helped me get through it.

Shooting porn isn't a sensual and soothing experience?
It's nerve-wracking to have all these people watching you, these lights and cameras on you. It's not intimate. I always say when I am done shooting a movie, that's when I need sex.

After days of fucking hot guys you need more sex?
It's foreplay to me, you're teasing yourself so much, and then it's over...and you're left hanging.

How many days does the average shoot take?
About one to two days. When I shot with Mustang and Falcon, I went there for a week. It was on a ranch in Malibu, I didn't want to leave!

Ever shoot any movies here in Philly?
Falcon and Titan have home bases in San Francisco, so they do a lot of stuff in Malibu. They rent out ranches for shoots. The movies I have done with Lucas are in New York. But I shot a website movie for jakecruise.com here in Philly.

Ever get a scene partner that disgusted you?
I would hate to be in the situation where I wasn't attracted to a person. It wouldn't show up well on film. Before shooting the producers send you a questionnaire to find out your likes and dislikes are. That way they don't put you in an uncomfortable position or with a partner you're not going to have chemistry with.

So you have to be into your partner? You can't fake it?
If you have a connection with someone, it just goes a bit smoother. If you have sexual chemistry, and they are attractive, that's great too.

Best partners, besides the boyfriend?
My favorite scene partner was Tim Towers in Ritual. Trey Casteel in the jcruise movie was hot too.

Favorite production?
I am most proud production-wise of the work on the Mustang movies. Just the whole experience, being out in Malibu on this huge ranch overlooking the ocean. The ranch was surrounded by famous movie stars' homes. At one point during my scene, Jack Nicholson drove by on his way to his ranch.

He didn't stop and say hello?
No! The ranch we were at is rented out a lot to porn shoots. Evidently he drives by slowly during straight sets, but not for the gay...
Speaking of the straights, would you do straight porn?
No, not interested at all! Never been with a woman, so...

Has there been anything you've declined to do for a movie?
Not really. Again, they determine what your limits are, and my agent also screens out a lot of offers. I did decline to do one production...

Why?
Ummmmmm, they wanted a double penetration scene and I wasn't up for it. [Laughs] Especially for the money they were offering.

Not everything has a price?
No, there are limits. I get a lot of offers to do stripping but I am not comfortable with that. I guess I should be, but I'm not!

Any porn bloopers?
During the Ritual scene, I was riding Tim on a chair and the chair broke. Thankfully, we both kind of caught one another. It didn't make the final cut.

How long do you see yourself doing this?
I will stay as long as they want me. There are so many opportunities. I hope this is the beginning. I am starting to get fans who e-mail me and feedback from people. Hopefully, my career will kick-off once my movies are out.

Any stalkers yet? Celebrities stalkers always seem kinda hot.
No stalkers. Maybe the thought of a stalker would be fun, but I don't think it would really be fun. I've gotten a lot of good fan response, just nice fan mail. It's great to read and it's a great ego boost.

How can I get a job as a fluffer?
They actually don't have fluffers anymore. Everyone on set is always ready to lend a hand.
