SM- Please give me a brief introduction.
EB- My name is Erick Bellitto and I am originally from Fairfield, Connecticut. I moved to Atlanta, Georgia about two years ago after running into a very successful friend (john mayer) at the mall one day who urged me that if I really wanted to find success in this business, I was in the wrong place.
SM- You say you struggled with the decision of leaving your home state...what helped ease your mind?
EB- Yes I did for some time but eventually I realized that even if everything worked out just the way that I wanted it to, I would would still be spending the next few years away from home. I was also at a point in my life where I needed to be inspired again. My songs had gotten stale and I needed to do some more living before I could do any more writing.
SM- Give me an insider look in the day and the life of Erick.
EB-Lately I've been back in Atlanta making this new record "Accessory to Success," so I get up around 8am, breakfast, 30 min on the elliptical machine, shower and then head to the studio. I know, how completely un-rockstar does that sound (lol). We've been working really long days but I'm so excited about how it's turning out that I don't even notice. I am really really bad at sleeping, just never picked up the skill, but I am awesome at laying in bed and thinking which I usually start doing anytime after midnight.
SM- What did you want to be when you were a child?
EB-I always wanted to be a performer. I remember my parents buying me a toy microphone, stand and all, and I'm told I did a pretty mean version of "uptown girl." Although I couldn't yet pronounce the "p" so it was more of an "uuhhtown girl" kinda thing going on. Hey I was just trying to make it my own.
SM- Last one, tell me what inspires you the most to stay motivated.
EB-Interacting with people either at a show or online and hearing that what I am doing may be helping them in some small way to get through their day. It makes up for every hour I spend doubting myself and the path that I have chosen. Also, other songwriters. I am a fan first and foremost. I constantly come across new songs that just knock me over and I think wow this is still the most amazing artform that I have come across. There is no other vehicle that affords you the opportunity to change someones life in 3:30.
As you can see, he is not only cute, but has a wonderful personality and can play and sing like it's his job! Check out his latest: zerochance.net
